My problem with McCarthy is that his offense doesn't look virtually any different today than it did 15 years ago.

If you were to look at McCarthys offense in 2011 and Andy Reids offense in 2011 they were almost identical.

Today the two look alot different, especially prensnap with guys in motion, new formations and new run blocking philosophies.

Reid has done and excellent job maintaining his core offense while tweaking it along the way to thrive through new trends and eras.

McCarthy has not done the same. Not even close. However if your a franchise like the Cowboys and have a roster loaded with talent on both sides of the ball, and play in a weak NFC East through 2023. You'll slay the bums every year and get bounced in your first playoff game every year also.

Unfortunately the Bears have some talent, but not anywhere near what Dallas has, and the NFC North is not a weak division. The Bears aren't going to go anywhere near 12--5 with McCarthy coaching this team in this division.

Hiring a first time HC like Johnson would be a fine hire for this franchise. The problem is NOT hiring a first time offensive HC. The problem is that when the fanbase clamors for his franchise to hire a first time offensive HC, like a Bruce Arians, this franchise has historically gone out of its way to hire the dumbest fucking version of what the fans and players themselves are hoping for.

You pray for Bruce Arians, the Bears instead go to the CFL to hire a Bruce Arians knockoff. The hire fails miserably and the fanbase and media then cower at the notion of a first time offensive HC.

Ben Johnson is the right hire. Don't go looking for dollar store Ben Johnson instead.

I'm a defense guy and even I think they need to backtable fixing the defense and instead:

Hire Ben Johnson
Draft a Left Tackle
Sign a free agent GUARD or CENTER
Draft a GUARD or CENTER
Draft a Bell Cow HB(Kaleb Johnson) that can outrun someone other than defensive linemen, and isn't a third down gimmick scat that's susceptible to shoestring tackles.

If you do this much behind making Johnson your HC and it will vastly improve this team this year in 2025 with plenty of steam to further improve.

The Bears don't even have to ace trying to hire Johnson, they just have to not **** it up.

Give him the bag
Give him say on the draft picks
Let him pick all of his own coaching staff.

That will do it. Does anyone think after what Johnson has said publicly that he wants to go to Dallas so Jones can micr manage his every move down to the breath?

Do people really see anything exciting about coaching in a dump like Oakland, in the toughest division in the game with Minshew as your QB?

All the Bears have to really do to land Johnson is to match rival offers and the McCaskeys have already stated they will pony up this time around and give him the freedom to do what any HC should have the freedom to do by picking his players and assistants.

My favorite teams
  1. Chicago White Sox
  1. Chicago Bulls
  1. Chicago Bears
  1. Chicago Blackhawks
  1. UCLA Bruins
If a Dallas team that has had significantly more talent then the Bears for the past 5 years can't get to a SB with McCarthy, then how do the Bears expect to?
Easy...da Bears don't have Dakota to implode in the playoffs....

McCarthy would be the guy I want. He’s proven and can develop QBs.

Plus Caleb’s hero is Rogers so you have instant buy in.
(Looks like Mike McCarthy guys)?

Let me guess, you were part of the dinner too.

You are right, though I do believe we should still get an edge rusher in this draft.

Give me an offensive minded HC not named McCarthy.............Don't think he is coming here anyway. Give me a young HC prospect who can grow along with CW, Johnson, Brady would be my guys.
