You stick with Bennett. Rapoport is back tracking a little.

If we don't get Bennett or Johnson how would you guys feel about having Peppers on one side and Jared Allen on the other?? I know they're both old but i think they both have 2 years left each.

I would feel old and declining.

Seahawks have emerged as the favorite to land free-agent DT Michael Bennett, and keep him in Seattle, per sources.

Exactly why I don't get why you'd tip your hand to something like this (though it probably wasn't intentional on the part of the Bears; it's probably the agent, as someone else said). That being said, Biggs could have kept quiet.

The Chicago Tribune reports the Bears are believed to be offering free agent DE Michael Bennett $8.5 million annually, while the Seahawks' proposal is worth $8 million a year.
Adam Schefter's report that Bennett is leaning toward staying in Seattle suggests he's also leaning toward taking a small hometown discount. We're still not dismissing the Bears' chances of landing Bennett, but they may have to go to $9 million per year to land him. NFL Network's Ian Rapoport recently stated on Twitter, however, that Chicago has already begun turning its focus elsewhere.

wondering who the focus is turning to...i hope its not johnson...seems weird that zimmer who was the DC in cincy now the head coach in minnestoa chose resigning griffin rather than getting johnson

Why would the agent not go back to the Seahawks and say, "We have a $34 million/4 year deal on the table from the Bears. Can you top it?"

That's the agent's job. It's going to happen whether the Bears or Biggs or anyone else keeps it quiet.

Don't believe the Bears are looking elsewhere. The Bennett's are playing with the reporters.

The agent is going to do everything to coax every dime out of the team that signs him,so "leaks" are sure to happen. And as for Biggs, it is his job to report inside information if he feels it is credible. Now, if his source is his dry cleaner that's one thing, but if someone from Rosenslease tips him off, what else is he suppose to do.

Then, the Bears wouldn't have Shea and would be in a bidding war over this year's top strongside linebacker, which is... someone who will demand a TON of money, I'm sure!

Also I would like to add, just think, we could have then gone on to sign Arthur Jones (in his own right a good football player) & Martys bro and blow me down and call me Mary fuckin' Poppins we would have all sorts of fun with family all over the bears.

LOGIC, IT'S ALREADY KICKING IN!

as far as I can recall, everyone on the board wanted Decastro that year because he was "the best OG prospect in the last 10 years, a surefire HOFer and would solidify our G spot for the next 10 years" Chandler Jones wasn't on anyone's radar anymore than Shea was

You forgot about Chris Long. And Jake Long (his brother, Joe Long, is also on the Bears roster). Then, we could have signed the Schwartz brothers to play guard and tackle. And the Kalil brothers to play center and the other tackle spot.

We might be able to field a team of these if we try hard enough.

Edit: That's way too many offensive tackles.

that is why you have Peppers and Wootton

I don't want to pay Peppers 18 million bucks to show up for four games and disappear for the rest.
