He gives to much credit to former "stars" and lets them play until he is absolutely sure they have nothing left in the tank. Bad players who were great one or 2 seasons like Tommie Harris are still around, get the fresh blood in the game.

On the fence with Lovie..

The front office staff above him need to take a hike though.

Um, time out then losing a challenge and squib kick in Atlanta to name a few epically dumb coaching calls just off the top of my head. He's a horrible head coach..

I'd love to have Cowher, but Lovie has done well enough this season that he doesn't deserve to be fired. Say what you want, but we're a 7-3 football team when many thought we were more likely to be 3-7 at this point in the season. Get some linemen to protect Cutler and another receiver and you have a team that can contend for the Super Bowl year in and year out.

Not really. We already have a top defense and special teams unit. Give Cutler time to throw and someone to throw to and the Bears become lethal.

Exactly, one thing thats for sure is Cutler does not have the targets to throw to. A guy like him needs a big receiver that goes up and gets the ball in the air based on the way the throws the ball. The offense does not have a 1 or 2 to be exact, even the radio in Chicago says the same. Johnny Knox is raw and has the skills but he would be perfect as a third/slot receiver. My dream scenario would be the Bears signing Vincent Jackson in the offseason and trading for Steve Smith. You wouldnt give up much for Smith since hes on the wrong side of 30 and his production has been down. A third round pick maybe or a fourth like how the Patriots snagged Randy Moss. After that, sign some LEGIT Oline, Use the draft to shore up our Defense.

There is a difference between being a team that makes the post season every year and a team that can make multiple deep playoffs runs and compete for the Superbowl every year.

Our defense is mostly on the wrong side of 30 years old, our receiving core still lacks a true number one guy, we have a very unstable running game, and like you pointed out a horrendous offensive line.

Green Bay is younger and far more talented than us and will be the best team in the North for some time to come.

I cannot believe that with some of the wins we have had this year that people honestly believe that with an offensive line this team can be the Patriots from the last decade.

You want to give up a third round pick for what is now a poor man's Jonny Knox? Steve Smith was a machine a few years ago but he not only has lost a step, he has lost 3. He is still a good player but not even close to a #1 target anymore, he is a older version of Jonny Knox right now. I agree VJax would be the legit #1 guy we need.

No more trading draft picks..... this team is old and needs to reload and far too many positions.

I see your point but remember, Steve Smith had no one to throw him the ball and thats why his production has went down. Believe me, he would be a better number 2 than Knox plus Knox can learn from Smith. You now would have a solid one, two, three punch.

Either way Steve Smith is no longer a #1 option in the NFL. Lets just say I would agree with you that Steve Smith is infact > Johnny Knox... it would be a minimal upgrade and giving up a 3rd round pick for a very short term upgrade is not smart.

Nothing matters till the offensive line is OVERHAULED. Then we need a real #1 target, then we need a few more pieces in the secondary that have better coverage skills, then we need to get a running back that can average more than 3 yard per carry, then we need youth on defense. An upgrade at defensive tackle would not hurt either.
