My favorite teams
It's not my comparison.Do you really believe that?

everyone does remember that Amegadjie is coming off a torn quad that required surgery, right? A similar but different injury that knocks Simmons out of round 1 potential, and Simmons is a far better prospect that played significantly better competition that Amegadjie did at Yale? We all remember that or nah?
2 things:Both are very serious injuries for OL that have about a 50% rate of return to prior production levels.
Why I dont think simmons goes in the first.
I also think its absurd to think the bears will take a backup at #10 in campbell/banks. This team is not in that position. The clear need/pick at #10 right now would be defensive end especially considering the draft board in that 10-20 range.
Braxton will be starting and this is his "prove it" year. For those saying "do you want to pay him that", we will find out this year when he's playing next to an all pro. Its heavily unlikely a rookie tackle would outperform braxton, most of them are pretty dookie. Even penis sewage was dogshit for a good chunk of his rookie year and he's a top 3 RT in football now.
2 things:
A. I think Braxton plays better with Thuney next to him.
B. With such a deep class at edge, I could see trading down for either Starks or Emmanwori and going EDGE at 39 and/or 41.
While I agree that BPA is likely edge or interior DL you also clearly laid out the logic for taking a tackle this year. The LT market is pretty wild and even mediocre guys are getting huge pay days. The bears just invested in center, and both guard spots. Jackson might be a 2 year player, who knows about thuney but I think he has more in the tank. Both are very serious injuries for OL that have about a 50% rate of return to prior production levels.

He's an OT and showed the arm length to confirm that. His athleticism and power are easily NFL caliber. He didn't give up many sacks and was great run blocking so I don't see anything specific to claim he won't be any good.I’m not saying Jones is hard to replace at all. Quite the opposite. I think he has been an average LT. I also think it’s great he outplayed his draft slot.
So, he’s not hard to replace, I just don’t want Banks to replace him, regardless of where he played ball. That’s because I do not think he will be a good T in the league, and may very well kick inside anyway.
Unfortunately, I don’t think this is a very good draft for T prospects. However, I think if the medicals clear, Simmons is a good T prospect.
We just disagree on the player analysis. But if he’s the pick, obviously I will hope he locks down the LT spot for a decade. He's an OT and showed the arm length to confirm that. His base already looks better than Braxton's and he is 5 years younger too, so there is plenty of time to improve. Yes I saw him struggle in some games just like Cambell struggled but at least they struggled against top tier college talent as opposed to what Southern Utah was up against.
Who's your guy at 10?We just disagree on the player analysis. But if he’s the pick, obviously I will hope he locks down the LT spot for a decade.

If the bears don’t want to pay Braxton what do they do next year? They have no one capable of filling that role currently on the roster. This means next year assuming Braxton isn’t it, they are forced to trade for an LT, pay some other mediocre guy, or draft 1. As you mentioned, rookies tend to struggle. Why not draft 1 now and give him experience?
I sure hope the bears future LT is on the roster this upcoming season, and that they won’t be forced to make a poor decision next year.
I like the idea of Mykel Williams. His traits are just absolutely insane and seems to fit the mold of what Dennis Allen looks for in a DE. And he would be given time as a rotational player to learn and put it all together.Who's your guy at 10?
I think he'll be a first cause the premium of the position, but you're right that he probably will end up being a bad decision. It sucks cause he's a talented dude and a shit injury brings it all into question. That guy may not even be a first rounder, torn patellar tendons used to be career enders and were the most serious injuries for an OL.
Times have changed and the recovery rate is much higher but its still a serious injury
Uhhhh wut? You're dead serious? lmao. That's a problem for next year, you dont redshirt the #10 pick because of the future. This team has too many holes
Also, there will be some guards available in the 2nd round who had college tackle experience. Personally I like donovan jackson who impresses me more than simmons.
There is also a chance kiran is not a complete waste of potential as well.
Now if braxton isnt healthy or not progressing well in his rehab thats a different story, but if he's healthy I expect him to have a good year, and at that point yes it may be wise to pay him. This is the first real time they'll be able to evaluate his true talent because he's had shitty and hurt guards playing next to him his entire career
I had Mykel in my original offseason mock. Hes a great fit athletically but his production is really lacking. Shemar Stewart is the same way with amazing combine and no production.I like the idea of Mykel Williams. I also wouldn’t mind Grant. He’s a monster.
Hypothetical. Let's say we draft a LT at #10, but Amigadje wins the LT job and becomes a stud. What then?
exactly this, you are spot on with your take.Uhhhh wut? You're dead serious? lmao.
You could say basically the same thing about booker at edge, is this justification to not take an edge?
Are you completely ignoring what happened this year with the LT market?
As a UGA homer, I’m not worried at all about Williams. I watch every game. He was battling an injury last year and wasn’t close to 100%. And holy hell, just imagine the possibility of his ceiling when he refines his technique and is at 100%. This is the classic example of not just relying on the stat sheet. Watch his game. His ceiling is incredibly high.I had Mykel in my original offseason mock. Hes a great fit athletically but his production is really lacking. The other top DEs don't fit what Allen wants for the scheme. After signing Odeyingbo I don't think a gamble at DE makes sense over a starter at a position of need.
I'm sold on Mykel Williams, I just see the Odeyingbo signing as the reason they wont take him.As a UGA homer, I’m not worried at all about Williams. I watch every game. As for Stewart, I don’t know that much about him. Athletically, he does seem to fit what Allen looks for in his DEs.
