Anyway, let's get Dews to move this extra talk to a new thread, this one should be about the Magic Number
Sale being allowed to pitch late in games during blowouts.- Good experience for a young pitcherHow do you know it did't hurt the team? We could be up more or have Sale be more productive.
Sale being allowed to pitch late in games during blowouts.
Misdiagnosing Morel early on
Acquiring O-Dawg
Pitching Thorton in closing situations
Not acquring a starter prior to Liriano
Mis-projecting Danks health

You analyzed every one of those problems perfectly. The only thing thing I didn't like was that time when we were shuffling around for a fifth starter before we got Liriano. Yes, I'm talking about Dylan Axelrod.Sale being allowed to pitch late in games during blowouts.- Good experience for a young pitcher
Misdiagnosing Morel early on- He sucks, we got Youk, I'm moving on.
Acquiring O-Dawg- paying league minimum for a bench guy who can give any of our infielders a day off, and a veteran prescence in the club house? I dont see that as a bad move.
Pitching Thorton in closing situations- shit happens
Not acquring a starter prior to Liriano- Kenny wasn't even supposed to get Youk, Myers, or Liriano; I think he did good with what he could
Mis-projecting Danks health- agreed, went from a week to next season, but we got Quintana out of it, and he has been more consistent than Danks ever was when he was healthy THIS season

The guy has never managed before and he's going to be in the running for MOTY.
No he won't nor should he. If you have watched the games the mistakes he made are mumerous. Look I like Ribin. All time great White Sox. I got his auto at his first Chicagoland appearance just after drafting him. He may become great someday too. He's not though. Bneither teh TV guys nor the Compcast pre/post guys have him as a MOTY candidate.
At least you all agree that those are problems. Like I said, this team hasn't been perfect and thanks to Robin's sub average performance as a manager we are fortunate to be where we are. I think with a more experienced manager we'd be under 30 with the Magic Number.
The Fiasco with Sale earlier in the year as one example.

Now, I'm not saying he's been a flawless manager so far this year, but would you mind pointing out some specific decisions/calls/actions that have hindered the Sox in any way?Perhaps I did not make my point clear. I agree with those that say this was really a rebuilding year of sorts for us. But the players have in general all played above the numbers. That said a more experienced manager would almost certainly result in more wins thanks to the lack of not making as many mistakes as a complete newb which Robin is.
