Signing the Batums of the world to max contracts is how to fail.

Gasol wants more money, and has earned it, which is why he is opting out. If he opts out his next deal won't be as friendly, still want to sign him? I do. But it's not black and white. I don't mind any of the options. Trade him. Let him play it out and opt out. Sign him.

All good by me.

I believe the bulls do want to re-sign Gasol. He's a perfect bridge player while they try to rebuild. He can be a main contributor on offense, and he's affordable. Plus, he's a veteran presence and won't be sour when the bulls are ready to move on from him. I like the idea of resigning him, and letting Noah walk. It's the smart move.

I'd think Gasol himself would rather play for one last shot at a title then be a piece of a rebuilding team.

Who said anything about signing Batum to a max deal?

How bout something like Gasol and Snell for Courtney Lee, Matt Barnes, 2016 2nd rounder and 2018 2nd rounder

Lee and Barnes are both expirings. Barnes brings some toughness and Lee brings at least a somewhat consistent and balanced wing player. Pau could go play with his brother. Instead of losing him for nothing this off-season we get two 2nd round picks which probably won't amount to a whole lot, but it's better than losing Gasol for nothing in free agency. Could possibly use them for a draft and stash. Honestly, I think this type of deal are the best we could get for Pau. Wouldn't be surprised if the Bulls have only received similar type deals. Nothing is going to be ground breaking but this team obviously needs a shake up.

Don't like the idea of giving up picks for a guy who hasn't played this year, isn't particularly great, and is signed through 2018 at an average of over 11 mil per season. Would much rather keep the picks and try my luck in free agency with guys like Batum, Parsons, Barnes or even Courtney Lee or Afflalo who will be cheaper and give you vastly similar production.

+ Picks? man...

I'd take Chandler though in a vacuum...he would fit Hoiball pretty well I think

Picks are overrated when you can get a guy who is top 10 at his position for those picks, essentially.

Jo would love the Denver bud. He would surely re-sign :smoke:

Is Wilson a top 10 SF? Idk about that...

Wilson isn't even close to top 10 at his position. He's really a SF/SG and the difference between the two positions in this day and age is negligible. He's probably not even a top 25 wing player.

10-15 pretty easily.

James, CLE
Durant, OKC
Leonard, SAS
George, IND
Anthony, NYK
Batum, CHA
Gallinari, DEN
Wiggins, MIN
Hayward, UTA
Iguodala, GSW
Harris, ORL
Antetokounmpo, MIL
Parsons, DAL
Carroll, TOR
Barnes, GSW
Barton, DEN
Fournier, ORL
Bazemore, ATL

I'd say at best he is top 10 somewhere after Hayward at #9.

If he's a top 30 wing, in a league with about 150 of them, I'd say that is pretty good. He can guard at least 3 positions as well.

Wilson Chandler:

Career average PPG: 14
Career high: 15

Career average 3P%: 34
Career high: 41 (3 attemps per game)

Career average eFG%: 49
Career high: 51

Career average TS%: 52
Career high: 55

Career average PER: 13
Career high: 16

He's a decent player but not even remotely a top 10 SF which is his listed position for the past 5+ years. We should get a similar player in free agency without giving up picks. Hell, wouldn't be crazy to end up with a better player in the draft either.
