We, as a society, get outraged at the wrong people on a consistent basis. Instead of being mad and trying to fix the culture that absolves jocks of responsibility the second they know how to play a sport, we wait until their behavior manifests itself into what we have seen over the past two weeks and then get upset at their current employers. Seriously, how fucking stupid is that? Instead of getting on the media for placing these guys on a pedestal, or blaming ourselves for idolizing these people, we get upset at the teams and the NFL. Then all of a sudden there are protests over shit that isn't going to change, instead of getting at the root of the problem which is the culture we breed to begin with. It's pretty fucking annoying. It's like trying to re-cook a well done steak and expect it to be medium rare. The damage is done, you waited too long to be outraged.

I actually think there is some inherent racism in the public outcry for punishment. I don't think its a coincidence that all the people involved in these incidents are African-American. Public is probably thinking that these big, rich, spoiled black men think they can do whatever they want.

It costs money to give people the treatment they need to get better. And while it is probably cheaper than jail in the long wrong to give people treatment, its much more expensive upfront.

There is a large segment of the American population that believes when their money goes to help someone else, its socialism and theft.

I agree that this attitude is short sighted, denies the reality that all people are connected and will impact each other, and is just plain juvenile.

In the long run, investing in people makes this country stronger, more productive, and more prosperous.

But try telling that to ignorant fucks that think taxes are theft and believe in the bootstrap farce.

Yea, well along with that he also missed that Date/Time stamped Kinkos FAX to the NFL office that started out with: Dear Commissioner Goodell. Where she admitted that she made it all up because of pressure from her family to blackmail him.

So much for NFL ignoring the victims...

But this is Mick...We're not talking about our brightest flashlight in the stadium.

The letter was sent to the NFL in 2008 by the woman herself. The issue brought up yesterday was from the woman's friend who said that Marshall had thrown cement at her car to try and get the other girl out, and more importantly that claims had been sent to the NFL at the time about Marshall's abuse of the girl.

You're perfectly happy to accept the authenticity of one letter, while at the same time dismissing the claims of a third party about separate events than the alleged letter was even in reference to. Apparently it's within reason for a woman to go blackmailing for money and get third parties in on the act, but not for a known and verified domestic abuser to have been guilty.

The articles even stated that they reconciled after the initial incidents and abuse continued, including the incident with the friend's car. You don't think it's possible that after this reconciliation, she could have written the "it didn't really happen" letter to the NFL because they were together and they didn't want Marshall's career to be derailed over it? Nahhh, that could never happen.

~Sigh~ I wish that one of my few, serious, well thought out posts wouldn't have been followed up by that.

Now that I'm certain that JJ is a bit, I'm starting to enjoy him more.

But there is no real reason to come out 5 years later and change the story AGAIN. The NFL is getting hit on all fronts, and this is akin to kicking a man while he's down.

Ah yes. Marshall's excuse for being a woman-bashing POS.
Wow... Just wow.

This kind of ignorance is why mental disorders still need so much awareness.

The majority of players in the NFL are African-American so it only makes sense that most of the problems occur with African-American players.
