Sveum says he'd be surprised if Matt Garza returns this season. He's on DL with stress reaction right elbow. #Cubs

Haha figured that. I was just being crazy hilarious. Why not Fack to be less confusing?

#Cubs officially select Chris Rusin from Iowa and move Matt Garza to 60-day DL to make room on 40-man roster

That's not too good..... I guess it's good we're not in a race for the pennant.

It's not good because now we can't trade him for anything of substance. I admire your enthusiasm though

Well, I also like Garza. I'd prefer to keep him around. He is still young enough to help us in our future. We don't need a full team of teenage and early twenty somethings to be good.

The official word is a stress reaction in his elbow, which is a little less serious than a stress fracture but does suggest some structural damage.

it reminds me of danks situation. miss a start, than throw side session, to DL, to having surgery

Just have to hope he doesn't perform like Danks has this year so the trade value will be good at the deadline

He's not expected to need surgery, but news keeps getting worse all the time. He'll pitch riht before the trade deadline, now he's gunna pitcher after the deadline, not he's going to the DL but will pitch is September, now he's officially done for the season. So, yeah who knows now...

Wow, that sucks.. not a big Cubs fan, but never like to see long term injuries. I hope he bounces back in the offseason, he is big for them, either in the rotation or a possible future trade piece.

Danks performance was based on discomfort that started the end of ST. I highly doubt the plan was to move Danks or let alone actually want to move Danks.

Garza will have to prove that he is the same pitcher for the first half of next year, and if the injury lingers or has surgery might as well keep him instead of dealing him for beans.

Could be nothing. Could be Tommy John. Cubs have not said much.

Sveum suggests Garza (elbow) to remain shut down from even light throwing rest of way. Originally was to have started throwing this month.

Well that's no fun.
