I don't understand the hate w/ him. Care to explain?

Hard to type out the whole deal, so I'll simplify it the best I can.

I think most Cubs blogs around take the pessimistic (I say realistic though) view on the Cubs while Al is by far the most optimistic. Because of that some of us read BCB and laugh.

He also openly despises advanced stats, which results in more mocking from sabermetric folks (a lot of which I read), and that helped form my opinion of him as well.

For what he's done there, making that blog profitable to the point that it is his only job, is commendable. I just have a completely different outlook on sports than him, which is why I'm not a fan.

The numbers also say that Colvin has an incredibly high HR/FB rate. One that he can't sustain.

"Given Castro does play the premium position, I still like Colvin. That's about a 3rd of a win over a full season which I'll take from a less premium position."

RF is -7.5, SS is 7.5. 7.5 + 7.5 = 15. 15/10 = 1.5. 1.5 wins.

For the 3rd time, we're talking about now, not the future.

Colvins positional value: -2.5
Castros: 3.7

Which equals Castro only being worth 6.2 runs more, positionally.
