The Chicago Bulls are pursuing Mike Dunleavy Jr. with their mini mid-level exception. The sides are discussing a two-year, $6 million deal, making the Bulls the frontrunner to sign Dunleavy.

Dunleavy is also a target of the Houston Rockets if they sign Dwight Howard.

Dunleavy has been with the Milwaukee Bucks for the past two seasons.

Marc Stein of ESPN reports that Dunleavy is also receiving interest from the Dallas Mavericks, Los Angeles Lakers and Minnesota Timberwolves.

KC Johnson confirmed that Dunleavy shares a mutual interest with Bulls, says other teams in play bull confidence a deal can get done

According to Y! Sports, the Chicago Bulls are the frontrunners to land SF/SG Mike Dunleavy Jr. Sides are discussing a deal of 2-years worth 6 million and the deal appears to be close. The deal could be completed at any time now.

Dunleavy played for the Milwaukee Bucks last season and is 32-years old. Dunleavy would likely come off the bench and give Luol Deng, Jimmy Butler much needed rest during games. Dunleavy is 6'9" and 230 pounds.

Last season, Dunleavy played in 75 games (3 starts) and averaged a little over 25 minutes per game. Dunleavy added 10 points, 4 rebounds and 2 assists per game last season.

To be honest, I'm not a fan of the signing. I seen Dunleavy play a lot last year since he played for the Bucks. He did have his moments, but not the signing you would like to see in the headlines. The Bulls can only hope he turns into what Nate Robinson and Marco Bellinelli were last year. This is the kind of signing you see when your team has no cap space.

I also think 3 million per year is a little too much and other options could be available. He did have a market and why it's likely the Bulls pushed up their pursuit of Dunleavy. The Bulls will use the mid-level exception on Dunleavy.

The deal is not yet finalize, but from the looks of it, Dunleavy will be wearing a Bulls uniform next season.

So this is a good move if Thibs can actually ever rest Deng and Butler and not play them 48 mpg.

That signing that you want to see in headlines? Ain't happening. The Bulls want to tinker with the roster a bit, sign players who won't affect their going all out next summer.

I like the signing...Snell won't be necessary this year, because he probably won't be any good, Dunleavy can spell Deng and spread the floor. He has been a consistent long range threat throughout his career. I think its a good idea.

As far as the olive branch to Rose...I don't think they give a damn about that at this point. If they did, they wouldn't have gotten rid of Adams in the first place.

Shooters...seems to be the trend for this offseason. I don't mind the move...I've seen Dunleavy burn us from 3 many times when he plays against us so it'd be nice to have that kind of shooting on our side. Korver-esque but with a little more length.

I agree.. I think their thinking is to have Drose ditch the ball out more to open shooters as he drives, instead of taking it all the way in

I meant he's not a signing you really want to see link to your team. You wan't to see Aldridge, Elllis, Mayo, etc... But with no cap space, this is the signing we were looking at.

Great, what a fucking waste of 6 million dollars and 2 years.
Back to overpaying at Sanford and Sons.
WELP, 2 more years of Heat championships while we get to watch Dunleavy and the gang struggle for playoff positions just to be knocked out.
There is so much more we could of got for 6 million dollars and 2 years wasted time.
Makes me sick.
would of been better off signing NOBODY and saving the money for 2014.
what a damned shame.
More overpayed garbage.

I agree with you, besides the fact we can't transfer the savings towards next year, we'd still be $3M closer towards signing a star.

I just don't see the value Dunleavy brings to the team that the picks don't.

Don't like that signing too much. Would have used that money for Nate instead.

there really not much they can do as long as they have deng and boozer on their pay roll.. I was hoping they would trade deng and amnesty boozer to open up payroll, dont look like thats happening. so, yes next year looks to be a repeat of the last 2 yrs.

Bulls wanted scoring and they got it. Surprised at how quickly it became true.
