Do you SERIOUSLY expect us to win more than 4 games in `17?!!! Lol! I hope youre wrong because next year we stand a better chance of getting the stud qb everyone is clamouring for this year. Next years draft is loaded with qb talent. All hyperbole aside i think this team can show some signs its heading in the right direction next season but with the tough schedule and personal as yet to be determined i think we should all temper our expectations. Heres hoping for a great draft:success:
It's the same thing every year. "This year sucks but next year will be much better". Until next year comes around and they say the same thing. This happens every single year. How many times does it take before people stop listening to a clueless media that's only interested in generating clicks and is always wrong, and start thinking for themselves?

As Broc said, it's just kicking the can down the road forever. At some point you have to take a swing. I think that time is now. This is not a weak QB class, imo.

And there isn't a #3 value QB in the draft.

There is QB talent worthy of using the pick on. Value is for free agency and your cellphone plan. When it comes to picking a potential franchise QB to lead the team, I want talent over value.

depends on the deal.. im not a cap guy.. so im just guessing

if cutlers base is roughly 12.5.. hit of 2 (2 mil left on restructure)... 10.5 .. im not sure if 2.5 roster is factored in somehow savings wise for this yr.. like i said... not a cap guy ... just guessing..

say year 1 at 20.5 mil... cap goes from 51ish to 41ish???

cut

urine = 41.8 mil
royal = 46.8 mil
houston = 49.8 mil
porter = 52.8
massie = 56.8 mil
sutton = 58.3 mil

could go 25-30 mil yr 1 if its all that

In this case, roster bonus means opening day roster so no.

Sorry.....

I'm having trouble getting it up for a guy a couple of years ago Tampa was about to hand the keys to the starting QB position to.......and then they decided Josh McCown was a better option because Glennon was too wirey and bad mechanically.....and he needed to fix them.

Fine. Not unreasonable.

But when Lovie Smith of all people is part of a brain trust that decided that Jameis Winston, the guy alleged of being part of that rape allegation at Florida State (which FSU settled for 950k) and the shoplifting thing......

And Lovie wanted him anyways. Over then consensus 1st overall pick (until news of his shoulder came out) Leonard Williams, then DT for USC--now a Jet.

Lovie and Tampa didn't want Glennon, or to even give the kid another shot. How good is this kid, really? And he may get how much?

You said 4-12? I hope that's enough to get one of Lamar Jackson, Josh Rosen, or Josh Browning in 2018........

Mike Glennon had 2600 yards, 19 TD's and 9 INT's in 13 games in his rookie year with the 22nd ranked rushing attack (Bobby Rainey was their leading rusher) and literally no other receiver other than Vincent Jackson.

The player with the 2nd most receptions on that team was Tim Wright.

He also played behind an O-line that allowed the 6th most sacks that year.

So Glennon literally had one of the worst supporting casts offensively in the NFL and still had a productive rookie year.

Didn't Vincent Jackson have like 1200 yards that year? So he did have a weapon. I get what you're saying though. I am hoping that Glennon is a lot better than people are assuming. I think he has improved and will surprise people.

I couldn't care less about saving Pace/Fox's job, and ownership needs to take an interest in this pick to make sure it's not squandered for that reason. Guys with one foot out the door shouldn't solely be making these kind of decisions, see Mike Martz.

You want the McCaskeys to weigh in on who to pick at #3? Are you out of your fucking mind?? This has got to be the dumbest thing ever said on a Bears message board in the history of message boards..

I hope to god you where joking..

A weapon and V-Jax was a borderline top 10-12 WR if that.

Defensive coordinators throughout the NFC North are trembling in fear. How can you possibly game plan for a giraffe?

Chicago Bears, soon to be the laughing stock of the NFL.......

thank you Pace and Fox...

Holy shit, that was long winded. I'm not sure what I just read. The ramblings of a mad man with a strong hate for Omlete or a freaking Genius...? I had a friend that acted like this when he was juicing. We'd go out drinking and boom! Total Pshyco. Either way, entertaining read..

:thinking: Hmm. See, now I would have guesses hallucinogen, like mushrooms or peyote, cause this dude is obviously trippin.

I've ate plenty of mushrooms and dropped tons of acid back in the day....

Never once came close to a Rask level post.

He is truly a CCS treasure.

The cost seems high but $15 mil is not even top 20 starter money. I think fans are just out of touch with QB salaries in recent years.

Again, Tyrod Taylor with limited experienced signed a 5 year $90 mil deal. He will still be ranked 20th in salary this year. The key is that they only signed him with $9.5 mil in guaranteed money so they can cut him and move on anytime without eating much cap.

That will be critical with Glennon. If the contract has low guarantees then the rest of it is just fluff that he only gets by earning the starting job moving forward. Contracts like this seem shocking but they are 100% prove it deals for QB's. And it should be what we see with Glennon for both the Bears and Glennons sake. If he pans out we absolutely want him under contract around $15 mil. If he doesn't then we need to be able to cut him.

The only veteran starting QB that had a lower cost than Taylor last year was Tom Brady who likes to give NE a deal to collect rings. Andy Dalton who signed his deal in 2014. RG3 who had injury concerns and was signed in late March last year. The other starting QBs were drafted and still on their rookie deals.

What he gets in annual salary is not a concern. It's the guarantee that means everything.

And that is the problem. None of the qb's in this draft have enough of it for the first half of the draft. If you want a late first/second round talent at pick number 3 then that is another conversation.

I disagree, and so will several other Gm's. Positional value has to be considered when making statements of this nature. Kicking the can down the road does nothing for building a winning team. Your going to reach a point where the other Non QB talent you have been assembling through the draft are at the end of their rookie contracts before you even begin to address the QB position, and that makes no sense at all.
