There is NO answer for QB this year.

It does not mean you do not try to find a solution.

Glennon will be better prepared this year than any of the rookies, but it does not mean that you do not Draft one also. Contrary to popular belief they could do both.

Mediocre QB play wins championships bruh

On the previous page, posters were mentioning having the #1 overall pick next year with Darnold and Rosen coming out. Their reaction to that was to wonder what you could get in a trade down with Darnold sitting there. This tells you all you could ever need to know about the Bears fan base and the Stockholm Syndrome-esque mentality when it comes to the QB position. Even when faced with the prospect of being there to take the blue chip guy, the first thing they think about is what they could get by trading down. Just incredible.

$15 mill for a career backup. I would just go with Hoyer and Barkley use that money to shore up OL get the number 1 pick next year draft Sam Darnold we should compete for the next 10 years.

It would depend on how the contract is worked out with Glennon though. If whatever guaranteed money would be done after the first two years and you can cut him or trade him if whatever young kid you have sitting behind him is showing he can play in the NFL then it really wouldn't be a bad idea to give Glennon a shot for two years. No matter how much any of us like him none of us know if the kid can be a starting QB cause we just haven't seen enough from him besides in his 1st and 2nd year which any young QB is still getting acclimated to the NFL game.

The Bears have been really tight lipped with info so this is a little weird.

The Bears aren't getting the number one pick next year. It took a miracle to get the #3 and we will be at least 2 wins better even with bad luck.

Let's look at it this way. Glennon is probably getting 2 years of guaranteed money. So 30 million. If Mike Glennon is the starting QB of the Chicago Bears in 2018, it's probably not a good thing. Hopefully, the rookie you draft this season is ready to go by 2018. So the Bears best case scenario is Mike Glennon starting 1 season. Is one starting season of Mike Glennon worth 30 million?

You as Bears GM in 2018.

Scouts: Ok Aussie, we've got #1 overall. Darnold checks every box. As close to a sure thing franchise guy as you could ever hope for. Let's do this.

Aussie: Hmm, I'm not sure. We could get a lot by trading down. I bet everyone wants Darnold.

Scouts: Of course they do; he's likely to be a top 5 QB for the next dozen years. But they don't have the pick, we do. Get to the podium, we're up!

Aussie: Did you know that 16 non-first round QBs have won Superbowls? Do you think Earl Morral was a #1 overall pick?

Scouts: *pound GM to death with baseball bats and go up to select Darnold themselves*

Signing Glennon would be a chicken shit move by a scared GM who thinks he needs to go 9-7 to appease the ownership and fan base. I've said it before and I'll say it again. I'd much rather have another losing season with a rookie QB learning the ropes than eeking out a meaningless 9-7 season with someone like Glennon leading the way. If Pave means it when he says they're building for the long haul then he'll agree with me. You don't win SB's with backups like Glennon.[/QUOTE]

And you can't rebuild the right way when you're throwing away early picks on QB's that won't be starting QB's in the NFL. It amazes me that for years fans have been wanting a GM that will rebuild the right way and stop throwing big money at vets to try to win now and when we get that GM everyone loses all patience after two years....lol

2009:

Matthew Stafford (1st overall)
Mark Sanchez (1st round)

2010:

2011:

Cam Newton (1st overall)
Andy Dalton (2nd round)

2012:

Andrew Luck (1st overall)
Robert Griffin III (1st round)
Ryan Tannehill (1st round)
Brandon Weeden (1st round)
Russell Wilson (3rd round)

2013:

EJ Manual (1st round)
Geno Smith (2nd round)

2014:

Derek Carr (2nd round)

2015:

Jameis Winston (1st overall)
Marcus Mariota (1st round)

Yes they will. And I think they'll develop better getting actual playing time than sitting on the bench. How does starting Glennon for two or three years improve them? You can only learn so much from the sidelines.

Or throwing them to the wolves with not enough weapons around them absolutely messes them up which i can show sooooo many cases of happening.

I have a rule of thumb and it's you don't sign garbage players to big contracts. 15 million per season means you are a good qb, I don't care if it's one year or 7. Glennon isn't the worst qb in the league but he is at best a bottom 5 starting qb.

A little richer than I would care to pay him however it's not my money and if he can offload his contract in 2 years with no cap hit and it doesn't prevent them from taking a QB early this draft and have an open competition than I'm fine with it. The rest of you bitches can go slash your wrists.

How do you know who won't be a starting QB in the NFL? Who are they, and who has suggested picking them?
