Hmm I've heard that the Red Wings are going after him but have heard nothing about the Hawks being interested.

Reading the article helps:

Modano admitted he hasn't heard from the Hawks directly yet but believed the salary-cap tumult that has occupied Bowman's agenda took priority over filling the third and fourth lines

If he'd be content relegated to third and fourth line duties, I wouldn't mind it. But he better come cheap.

Im pretty sure he's been a third liner in Dallas in recent years. Not 100% on that though.

Last year he was, at least in parts I saw on the team, playing on the 4th line and power plays. That'd be great to add in Chicago too.

Modano is my favorite player ever, along with Tony Amonte I would love to see him in a Hawks sweater. I heard he is interested in playing on the west coast for LA, Anaheim, or San Jose. Then there is talk that the Wings are pursuing his services hard.

I want him really bad in Chicago so I can add a Modano Hawks jersey to my North Stars and Dallas Stars ones... I have worn #9 from the age of 7 because of Mike.

Key Words: He hasn't heard from the Hawks.

As I said, the Red Wings appear the only ones to be going after him hard.

:turrible:

Just as well.

Would the Hawks want the Modano from 3 or 4 years ago? Hell, yeah.

Would they want the 2010 version? Not so much

I hope we go after him. He would be a great addition and add stability to the 3rd or 4th line.

I would not mind him signing a minimum veteran contract to play on our 4th line, and play situationally.

He is still capable of putting up 40-50 points a season (he would not get the ice time to do so with the Hawks but is still an asset as a Hockey player). Plus he would draw more fans being that he is the greatest US Born Hockey player of all time.

I can't see a guy like Modano taking less money than a guy like Madden. I know he is a few years older- but the deal seems to be this- if the team doesn't have enough to sign a 4th line specialist like Madden, then they probably don't have enough for Modano.

Yes, I know about Reasoner; however, I consider him an add on and probably a Rockford player at this point.

Reasoner has a good history with Coach Q from St. Louis. He is very similar to Madden and will play center the 4th line, help on the PK, and be a faceoff specialist.

Any more news on Modano?
Going back to work has put me behind in Hawks news

Dump Reasoner's garbage ass & sign Modano.

Despite him being 40, he can still play.

Who is gonna take a trade for dumping Reasoner? I suppose dumping Reasoner would really only happen down when they can dump players to the AHL. Which would work.. then again maybe you could keep both, IDK much about Reasoner but with him or Dowell I think they may want 1 still unless they're content with Sharpe centering.

Plus they have to wait to do that to Huet to be able to sign Modano probably anyway. So that's not until when, the end of August?

The problem is, if Modano can still play -then I can't see Modano wanting too much less (or less) than what Madden took last year.

I don't think that Chicago can swing a signing for that much; at least -as ClydeLee points out, not while they still have Huet's money counting on the salary cap.

Personally I think Modano ought to consider having an ESPN special ..... (oh no - never mind that ...what a joke :p).
