What is the point then?

that wasnt the basis of my comparison

i was looking more at style of play....

wade plays alot like jordan used to play

kobe is more old-jordan(relies more on the jump shot...more smooth and savvy at this point than just overpowering you with speed and athleticism..not that kobe isnt)

if you're going by career comparsion..then ya kobe's not a bad comparison..but actual style of play is a different story

d wade's 06 finals was like watching jordan in a heat uniform...

Wade has a lot of the athleticism but he doesn't have the ability to score in as many ways as Kobe or Jordan. He is a notch below those guys. While I put Wade on the Mt. Rushmore of shooting guards, he does not remind me of Jordan at all. He reminds me of Wade.

Kobe emulated Jordan's game to the best of his abilities and could mimic Jordan's every move. Now that doesn't speak well of his wanting to be an original, but it does show what a great athlete Kobe is.

On the defensive side...Kobe and Jordan both were better man defenders than Wade also. So I personally see no comparisons between Wade and Jordan that trumps Kobe in comparison to Jordan.

Kobe over his whole career has looked like Jordan in a Lakers uniform. Not just to people like myself...but to the coaches who coached Jordan. Wade isn't as capable a scorer as Jordan was...if you are comparing Wade to the early 1990's Jordan. I don't think Wade could do the things Jordan was doing back then.

There will never be another Mike. But in the post MJ era, Kobe is by far the closest player to even be considered like Mike.

I have said the exact same thing for years now. Kobe is the only player comparable to Michael. Kobe is also the only player who has a chance at taking MJ's title as the GOAT. I know a lot of you will refuse that idea, but that's your problem. I couldn't agree with MJ anymore.

MJ never said he was better he just said he is the only player that has accomplished anything that is comparable to him... And I agree with this

But imo Kobe will never be the GOAT

i disagree...my opinion..and its not to say kobe resembles jordan...especially considering he does try to mimic him a bit

i never said wade was as a capable a scorer as jordan...me comparing wade to jordan, of course, does not nearly mean wade is on jordan's level...

I think many people dislike Jordan...but think about why. I disliked him...because he dared to play like Jordan. And no, he doesn't mimic him a bit, for the first 12 or so years of his career, he mimicked him a lot! Pippen noticed it and ridiculed him. Jordan's agent spoke about it.

Wade is Wade...Kobe is a Jordan doppelganger. And Kobe was so good at it that some have him ranked as high as #2 on their list of all time greats.

I definitely see parts of Jordan in Wade's game. But it is more the brashness of his game than technical skill. In Kobe, I see both.

you mean kobe right? you are right he did try to mimic him...and he is reminiscent of jordan

i think your kinda missing the point here.....its not about careers and accomplishments...in that aspect kobe is much more reminiscent of jordan(although kobe actually isnt the best finals performer while jordan is one of the best if not the best...not to say kobe isnt bad by any stretch though)

perhaps it is more in recent years, but i have always felt that kobe is a freak athlete, but reminds me of an older jordan with the fade away jump shot that he loves....while kobe isnt a prolific 3 point shooter he is a guy that really mixes it up and has a finesse jump shooting aspect of him..i believe kobe still holds the record for most 3s in a game

kobe is a fantastic athlete one of the best, but it can be argued that he doesnt exhibit as much as jordan did or wade

wade has always been a guy who's relies on his athleticism to make nice plays near the bucket...that is one of the biggest things about wade compared with jordan...jordan and wade for a bit of their careers were not the greatest jump shooters but more than compensated for this with an incredible ability to get to the lane...they not only had incredible athleticism but used it consistently

with respects to kobe who is a great defender...wade is just a terror....he's 6'5(hell 6'4) yet he is so good at utilizing his athleticism in defense that he is a capable shot blocker and also a guy who can cover the perimeter well and disrupt the passing lanes....again i see a parallel with jordan

am i saying kobe isnt like jordan at all? absolutely not..i'd say he's pretty damn close to jordan as well...but imo i think wade's style is a slightly better fit compared to jordan

I love California.
I love Jordan. He is the reason I love the Bulls. But I never thought that Kobe would even approach Jordan's accomplishments and thus far, he has proven me partially wrong.

But Kobe will ever be considered a greater player than Jordan because of the time frame Jordan completed his accomplishments. I'm not sure too many superstars of the new millennium can retire, play a different sport (professionally), and return to their original sport and dominate the way Jordan did in his prime. (And I doubt any players of today would risk their health and retire to play a different sport).

Even though I don't believe Kobe will ever be better than Jordan, I do not believe Jordan was the GOAT. That title belongs to the man with the most titles (and was the leader of the teams he played on)- Bill Russell. No-one has more rings, was as dominate a force as Russell was. The rings speak for themselves. I wouldn't make this argument if Bill wasn't the leader on the championship teams that he was on. I understand the talent pool was limited and not as advanced as todays game, but Russell was the epitome of "WINNING"... And that, ladies and gentlemen, is the sole reason why Bill deserves the recognition that so many deprive him of, of being the GOAT.

Talent is good, but leadership is indispensable.

Love Jimi.

Just like how you should delete your sig.
Why?

EDIT: I'll delete my sig when DCGuy admits how stupid that statement was. Until then, it stays in infamy. If you'd like to give me reasons why I should change it, feel free to pm. I don't want to tie down hou's thread anymore.

You are definitely referring to recent years with Kobe. In his prime, he was just as athletic around the basket as Wade, and a better on ball defender. Kobe physically, technically and competitively mirrors Jordan. Wade is....Wade. I wouldn't really compare his game to Jordan's anymore than I would Drexler's or Richmond's or even McGrady.
