Damn that is two years in a row the Sox took a pitcher right before the Cubs and a pitcher I would have loved for the Cubs to get.

MLB said best player on the board. The only pitchers they would have considered were off again. I think they wanted Tate or Fullmer. Jay was the other off the board.

Aiken may keep dropping into the sandwich rounds.

Not that much of a curveball. I'd heard him mentioned to the cubs prior to today.

What is he a switch hitter? He projects as the next Ben Zorbrist for Maddon. Plays LF, 2B, CF. Sounds like a bench player in reality. Maddon likes that flexiblity on the bench. He should promote fast just like Schwarber and Bryant did. Same thing they have been doing. fastest to the team types.

I can see Almora being heavily involved in trade talks now.

Why? I'm not sure Happ is much of a CF and other than Almora there's not much there. I mean they could re-sign Fowler longish term but I don't necessarily see a strong indication after tonight that things have changed.

@Cubs: Happ has played in RF, CF, as well as 2B, 3B and SS. He’s listed as one of the top 3 pure college hitters in the draft by Baseball America.

@ESPNChiCubs: 3 yr college hitter for 3rd year in a row. Former big leaguer Sean Casey advised him. Makeup fits the Cubs...

@NickJFaleris: #MLBDraft: Cubs could have four or five young players that interchangeable across four or five positions. Great depth/insurance vs injury

@ESPNChiCubs: Jason McLeod via release: “Ian has proved to be one of the better performers in college baseball over the past couple of seasons."

@ESPNChiCubs: McLeod: “He’s a switch-hitter who hits for average and power while showing advanced plate discipline."

I mean he's sort of Schwarber to an extent. He had a 19.4% bb and k rate. He probably doesn't have the same power as Schwarber but it's pretty much what they've been drafting lately which is a high walk rate.

Cause Almora still has value with his D. Has not adjusted in two years in AA. He has the least potential to start out of the OF we could have. You keep talking about trading for young pitching. The cubs have to give up prospects. Almora is a sinking rock. You have Hannenman and Alcantara and other who can play CF. Almora is getting down the list now.

Guessing they see him at 2B or CF. Solid hitter. Very safe pick is probably up by late 2017.
