Whoah, Rashard Lewis, I think we have a challenger! That's a good one, there. That guy is grotesquely overpaid. Makes you wonder why Orlando would give him that much when they got him from Seattle.

Marbury is another exceptional example.

A fine guard, yes, but Marbury was also the most overrated "superstar" I have ever seen in my life.

With the exception of his short-lived days with KG (in Minnesota and about 3 weeks in Boston) every...single...team Marbury was the main man on was mediocre, average, below-average, or just plain terrible.

He could have been GREAT as Minnesota's second option behind Kevin Garnett. But he got greedy and just had to get paid every penny Kevin Garnett was getting paid and he was so obscessed with gettin' his, he would even go to the Nets and force a huge trade.

He was poison in the locker room.

The Nets were dog meat when he ran the point. The Nets trade him and bring in Jason Kidd and all of a sudden, the Nets are in the NBA Finals what seemed every year.

The Suns are mediocre with Marbury as their number one player, they get rid of him and bring in Steve Nash and all of a sudden the Suns are in the Western Conference Finals nearly every year.

Everything he touched turned to crap, nearly everywhere he left became an instant championship contender. The most selfish player I've ever seen.

Just saying...

Here's how it breaks down so far...

Joe Johnson- 17.7ppg, 4.5 apg, 5 All-Star, 12th in MVP voting once- 200 million

Gilbert Arenas - 21 ppg, 5.5 apg, 1.6 apg, Most Improved Player award, 3 time All-Star (because of injuries), 12th in MVP voting one year, 8th in MVP voting another year, 162 million.

Rashard Lewis - 16.3 ppg, 5.6 rpg, 2 All-Star, 0 MVP votes, 164.6 million

Stephon Marbury - 19.3 ppg, 7.6 apg, 1.2 spg, 2 time All-Star, 0 MVP votes, 151 million.

Allan Houston- 17.3 ppg, 40% from 3, 2-time All-Star, 0 MVP votes, 117 million.

Rashard Lewis peeps. Couple good years stroking the 3 in Seattle, and Orlando gives him a 6 year 100 Mill contract. Thats all he does, shoot 3's, not very good anymore, and has no D, and no other offensive game. I dont think he even gets of the bench in DC.

Isn't less than a season too soon to be calling this Heat team "FAIL?"

Does anyone remember when the Pistons were taunting MJ and running all over the Bulls? I think they wound up doing pretty good...it took them a minute or two to become a great team.

Stephon Marbury deserves heavy consideration.

I don't understand all the criticism Chris Bosh receives. This is a 6-time all-Star whose received many MVP votes.

If you're suggesting his current contract is overpaying him, I would agree with that (he doesn't deserve the same as LeBron - 6 years, 110 million) yet he is still a fine player.

I don't have him up there with the likes of Joe Johnson and Allan Houston.

It's funny how quiet the Chris Bosh hate gets when he puts up 30 and 12 against the best team in the league and 18 and 10 against the Lakers, yet as soon as he has a bad game (as everyone with a pulse has) everyone makes him out to be this bust.

He isn't.

If Miami wins at least 2 or 3 championships, Chris Bosh is going to be in the Hall of Fame, unlike any of those guys mentioned above.

Leave him alone, guys.

C'mon guys! What about Chris Bosh? He's getting paid the most of the big 3 and is the least important to their success. He doesn't post up, and the only thing he's good for on the court is acting.

No he went 1-18 against the best team in the Association. This is a Bulls forum, if you're expecting any love for the Heat, take your talents to South Beach. :hitler:

DO NOT compare Lebron James to Michael Jordan EVER. I like what Jeff Van Gundy has to say (for once) on comparing people, that if you compare 2 people, both are devalued. Both are good in their own respects. You can't begin to compare the two until the Heat win at least 1 championship.

Bosh is still somewhat sub-max, is a premier power forward, and is only 26. That's a far better deal than Joe Johnson who has the biggest kind of max contract and is going to be playing at a sub-allstar level as soon as next year.

So we're basing all judgments on one game now?

I'm judging that the Bulls are the best team in the NBA. That's the only judgment going on here.

That was your response to someone saying that Bosh wasn't one of the most overpaid players. That's a judgment (and a rather bad one).

Also, it's a little premature to say the Bulls are the best team in the NBA.

If you read the last line, he said "leave him alone." You can pick a quote out of anywhere and make someone look bad.

Why should Bosh be left alone? He Wade and James documented their free agency for the world to see. And now they have to live with the decisions they made and whatever criticisms they get from the media and regular people.

If you go by career NBA salary, Joe Johnson officially became the most overpaid player in the history of the NBA, correct?

When he was at his peak (averaging 25 a game) he was on a contract paying him 67.4 million over 5 years.

Yet ever since, he's done nothing but 21 points a game. Nice. Decent. Good.

But not spectacular. Not great. Not a superstar.

21 points a game is good but it's just aight.

How this guy, a routine 21 ppg scorer got 6 years and 124 million (coming into the 10th year of his career) is something I will never understand.

Once his career is over, he will have made 200 MILLION dollars.

How could Joe Johnson get 200 million dollars!? That's more than MJ made from his NBA contracts.

Is there anyone more overpaid than Joe Johnson?

Name a SG besides Bryant and Wade that is better than Johnson. The only reason why he got paid, same thing with Marbury, and Arenas, is that there are relatively few guards with a lot of talent.

He should be left alone as far as this thread is concerned. He's not one of the most overpaid players. If you want to criticize him in general that's fine, but the "leave him alone" line was in reference to the overpaid player discussion.

I'd certainly take Monta Ellis over Johnson right now. I would have taken Roy before the injuries, but it looks like we've seen Roy play in his last all-star game. Evans was on track to exceed Johnson before he got hurt, though I suspect he'll bounce back next year.

I don't know if you're factoring in injuries with this thread but didn't Grant Hill earn like $400,000 per game he actually played with Orlando during his tenure there? Ouch.

He's getting paid more than Wade and James. That =overpaid. No matter what Bosh does, it won't be enough.
Joe Johnson and everyone else should be left alone according to his logic, because the teams made the choice to pay these players. The players were smart and took the money.

That's not an indication that Bosh is overpaid (he is somewhat, but not by any crazy margin), it's that Wade and James are vastly underpaid. I don't know if you read/listen to Doug Thonus (if not, go here: Chicago Bulls Confidential | ChicagoNow you won't regret it), but he explains this in great detail.

Really the only solid news from this thread is that no Bulls players belong on it.
