Sucks. With Soler out for a month they have to make a spot for Baez to replace him in the line up.

Bryant to RF and Baez to 3B makes the most sense.

CogDenorf in RF and LaStella/Castro is a band aid as it gets.

Baez was taking grounders in RF before the Iowa game last night. The thing about moving Bryant is that he is really seeing the ball well right now and the eye test tells you he's on fire even before the stats and those are impressive. In his last 15 games his slash is .339/.413/.768. I'm not sure you want to move him to a new position and give him something new to think about. Baez on the other hand will be making a huge transition from AAA to begin with and I'm pretty sure he can handle RF. If La Stella is not giving you production at 2B I move Coghlan back there, Baez to RF and leave Bryant alone.

Baez was at 3B not RF. I'll go with the hints they give

Bryant by no means is GG calaber at 3B

He took grounders in RF before the game, I didn't say he played there. I take that as a big hint.

I also wasn't saying Bryant was perfect at 3B but he is by no means bad there. I don't think you mess with a guy's head the last week in August if you don't have to.

Baez call up isn't going to upset Bryant's apple cart. I could see them throwing Bryant out there occasionally to see how Javy does at 3B, but Bryant has been better than advertised defensively. I don't see any quality starter getting jacked with down the stretch of a playoff run.

Why move anyone to a new position. Keep Bryant at 3rd and put Baez at 2b, then play Coghlan/Denorfia in RF, until Soler returns.

Eh, Bryant has certain plays that he cant make routinely. Bunts are an adventure. His big body is def. a detriment over there. He cant get up as quick as the smaller guys. He sails balls from time to time. Not a butcher, but he will never be more than average in my opinion. Maybe a tick above.

I think people are over analyzing this. I'd be surprised if Baez is a regular starter when/if called up. If they felt he was certainly he'd already be up and playing. Like I said before, my guess is if he's called up for the playoffs he'll like be a versatile bench bat with some speed and a bunch of power. In other words, a better Herrera.

I am going to live with that the rest of this season and ride the hot streak he's on right now.

That was before Soler went out. Things have changed.

But to admittedly be contrary to myself...didn't Bryant like playing CF? He may not mind the move to RF, especially with Soler on DL. It's helping the team out.

With Soler out I think he's just another option. Oblique injuries are funny things, Soler could conceivably be out the rest of the regular season. Obviously their first attempt at filling that hole is to put La Stella at 2B and Coghlan in RF with both positions having a RH option in Castro and Denorfia respectively. If La Stella puts up a solid MVP and is getting hits Baez may not see much time at all. If La Stella isn't putting up those numbers Baez could play, I think only the position would be in question. Maddon is going to put his best lineup he can out there. If that includes Baez than so be it.

With Baez being able to cover 3B, that will give Maddon the option to play Bryant in LF against tough Lefties and sit Schwarber. .

I just hope Baez has good ABs come Sept. and they can consider him the starting 2Bmen for next year.

All they would need to address this off season is CF, bring Fowler back or add someone else .

They can do a few things with CF. FA market is looking thin. They should just retain Fowler. In Iowa John Andreoli has been and interesting option that has not gained much notice. He has always shown speed. 28 this year. Most 55 in 2012. But this year his OBP is sitting at .376. with 13.5% BB. 14.6 over his career. SO%: 22.5 over his career.

So This is a guy I would think over as a in house option. He has been pretty much a unknown for a long time but has racked up so interesting lead off peripherals.

What 'i don't like is how they are just snubing Baez this year. He has for the most part over come what was killing him last year. He really never looked right in AAA and got rush jobbed up. We saw the result of it and he became SO king for it.

But that was managements mistake for tossing him into the fire. Kid was not ready.

Now what bothers me is if it was all about them using it as a part of the learning process then fine. But after he got it together this year they have for the most part have put their foot on his head to keep him in Iowa.

My opinion is it is all about him being inherited goods vs their choices. They rushed Russell. Gave him SS with out thinking twice. Their guy. Baez...AAA and give guys days off in Sept....role player. Regardless of the results he has gained this year.

To be honest Jed and Theo can be real dicks at times.

Baez was rushed last season for a reason. He knew it, too. As for being dicks, most successful people do have a dickish side to them.

The reason was to show him was it takes and they knew he would fail.

That part is fine. But after Baez fixed his problems and back from injury and raking again was the first snub. Promoting LaStella was the 2nd.

LaStella is not going to replace what Soler gave
