Ugh... Lou Brock.... What could've been, eh?

The prime example of why giving up on a baseball player at 25 is never a good idea. Maybe everyone who bitches about Castro/Rizzo/Samardzija should read up on how and why Brock was dealt ;)

There are a few, "what could have been" 's out there... Lou, Dizzy Dean, Dennis Eckersley, or even Suttor or Maddux though he did win a Cy Young as a Cub. Could also toss in Andre Dawson to the possible list, but my list would be like what has been posted above: Ryan Sandberg, Billy Williams, Ernie Banks, Harry Carey.

Harry just made those endless parade of awful 70's and 80's teams palatable.

Making those teams palatable? My vote then goes to Marla Collins.

Well, in the 70s Carey was with the Sox. But sans '77, those teams were all rubbish too, so point stands.

How flattering that someone wanted ME on their Cubs Mt. Rushmore.

All of my 145 posts must have been quite legendary.

Don't get the Dizzy Dean reference with that list. He came to the Cubs with a rag arm. He pitched well when he could for two years but he was damaged goods upon getting here.

Sosa, Sandberg, Banks, and Grace. I know, I know Grace is not over Santo and others but he was my favorite player growing up. Its my Mt.Rushmore anyway.

What a pathetic top 4.

Glad I'm not a fan of the MLBs laughing stock.

The White Sox might not be a ton better.

Shoeless Joe
Frank Thomas
...?Konerko?
...?Buehrle/Lyons?

Not much better or worse than

Banks
Sandberg
Dawson
Brown/Anson/Harnett(insert old tymey player here)

Sox might be more "top heavy" with Jackson and Thomas but their next two spots are kinda "meh"

I agree with the general assessment but Eddie Collins, Red Faber and Nellie Fox would deserve some mention I would think.

Wow. Tough question to narrow it down to four.

Banks, Williams, Jenkins, Sandberg.

Others up for honorable mention include Dawson, Wood, Grace, Santo, Hack Wilson perhaps.

Zack, The last one is the one that allows Rickstein & Co to prolong the build for as long as they want.

Anson, Banks, Sandberg, Billy Santo
