Just saw "I Love You Man" the other night. Very funny movie.

It was filled with a ton of scenes where I was so embarrassed on behalf of Paul Rudd that I had to overt my eyes though.

Still highly recommended. Lots of good comedies in the past year.

Loots of good comedies this year but mostly all of them have come from Jude Apatow.

My wife and I saw this last weekend. It's hands down one of the funnier movies I've seen in a while. "Catch you later Joban" has to be one of my favorite lines from the movie.

I went in thinking Apatow directed this, but he didn't. The director's name escapes me, but it's not Apatow.

I'm taking the kids to see Monsters vs Aliens tonight. I'm looking forward to that one as well. I usually enjoy most of the kids movies we see, at least the cartoon ones. The live action ones with kids playing super heroes are hard to take.

Re:OT: Movie talk

Just saw "The Wrestler" last night.

I've got to say, it was good, but I don't think it was as good as some people were making it out to be.

I also watched "Memento" a few days ago, and that was pretty cool. It's about a guy with short term memory loss (can only remember everything before his wife's incident) who tries to find and kill his wife's murderer/rapist, so he has to make notes and tattoos to serve as mementos to remind him what he's doing, and where he's at, and who can be trusted etc. The story also goes backwards, and each scene overlaps parts of the previous. It's a bit confusing, but you get the hang of it once you get through about 3 scenes.

You've got to pay attention alot to get most of it though, so it's not one of those sit back and relax things. Also, it's one of those movies where it's definitely going to be better the second time around (which I usually never do).

Re:OT: Movie talk

I agree, I wasn't that into the wrestler. It was one of those movies that at the end I just felt kind of meh about. It was basically sad and joyless for the entire film and then ended that way as well.

Momento is a great movie, the first time I watched it I didn't realize how the time sequencing was working early enough to piece everything together real well. I actually saw that one in the theater though, and recommended it to everyone I knew. Momento was a great underrated movie for awhile, but I think most people have heard of it by now.

One of my favorite underrated movies is "Made" with Vince Vaughn and John Favreau. I recommend that to everyone, it's Vince Vaughn at his absolute peak IMO.

Just got back from Monsters vs Aliens, it was pretty good for a kids movie, but I wouldn't go see it without having kids. It was nothing special entertainment wise where I felt like adults would have to see the movie.

It wasn't bad though. It was still decent, but nothing incredible.

Saw Yes Man last night....didnt really do it for me...

Not sure, plot was good, story line was glued together well (if you can consider generic script writing formulas a plot) acting was good but just SOMETHING missing

Then I watched Bedtime Stories and proceeded to fall asleep within 12mins of the movie...

GF said it was cute though, whatever that can be translated into...

Re:OT: Movie talk

that Monsters vs Aliens looked pretty good for a kids movie.

I'm in the middle of The Dirty Dozen right now, whew they just don't make movies like they used to. i'm also in the middle of Birdman of Alcatraz, which can be found on hulu until tuesday, these old movies are too good.

i really liked the Wrestler, prolly cause i used to watch wrestling alot. i'm all for a movie to show people that wrestling is just predetermined, it gets a bad rap when people say its fake. ive seen a triple threat barbed wire match in which one contender was well into his 60s. it got so bad at the ending that they had to come out to right ring to cut the wrestlers free they were so tangled up.

of course it was sad and joyless, he was a washed up wrestler. working the independent circuit and a few hours at a super market. with those 2 jobs he could barley pay the rent on his trailer. he effed things up with his daughter time and time again, he was in physical pain most of the time, but he was doing what he loved. he put on a show every weekend for fans. wrestling was the only thing he could do right and got that taken away due to a heart attack, of course he was miserable. RAM RAM RAM RAM RAM

The wrestler was good, it made me so sad not only for the character but for real wrestlers. That business is a horrible thing to be in. You guys do know its pretty much Jake the Snakes life story?

I hadn't known it was Jake the Snake's story. I remember watching him growing up though.

Re:OT: Movie talk

Doug if you look up Jakes life story its the same exact thing. Also I read that Rowdy Piper when he saw Mickey Rourke he broke down and cried and gave him a hug, other people like Bret Heart and Vince didn't take to well to the movie. Funny about Brett considering what his family has been through because of wrestling.

Re:OT: Movie talk

From wikipedia
WWE Hall of Fame inductee Bret "The Hitman" Hart, who was a multi-time World Champion in both WWE and WCW, applauded Rourke's "clairvoyant" performance, but called the film a "dark misinterpretation" of the business and asserted that "although the film speaks superbly to the speed bumps all pro wrestlers navigate, I’m happy to report most of us don’t swerve off the road quite so severely."[29] WWE play-by-play commentator Jim Ross called it a "really strong, dramatic film that depicts how people who are obsessed with their own lives and their careers can self-destruct".[30] WWE Hall of Famer "Rowdy" Roddy Piper was said to have been highly emotional after watching a screening of the movie. Aronofsky said of Piper: "He loved it. He broke down and cried in Mickey's arms, so he was psyched that this story was finally told."[31] Insights on the film from Roddy Piper and other former pro wrestlers can be seen in Fox Searchlight's "Wrestler Round Table", which will be included in the Blu-ray DVD release.[32]

Re:OT: Movie talk

The Wrestler had it's moments, but the whole thing was based upon feeling sympathy for the character. While there was a lot of sympathy to be felt, it's hard to feel THAT much considering the guy left his daughter cold when she was young, does drugs/steroids, bangs random women he just met while snorting lines of coke, hangs out regularly at strip clubs, etc. I'm a person that believes in people getting second chances, but you've got to admit he kind of had the loneliness coming if he kept voluntarily doing those kinds of activities.

Re:OT: Movie talk

I saw Paul Bart Mall Cop and let me tell you that it was the worst two hours of my life. I didnt even crack a smile. This is coming from a big Kevin James fan and a guy who loved I now pronounce you Chuck and Larry. The whole movie was horrible and the plot was not believable. Cheap humor about his weight, love life, him being abused by everyone in the mall was all unfunny.

Frost / Nixon was really good. Very gripping given that you know what's going to happen before it starts.
