The Girl who Played with Fire is in theatres right now. It's got some nice unpredictable twists to it, IMHO.
Watched The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo (Swedish) last night... good movie. I haven't read the books, so if anyone is curious, this is just a heads-up that the subject matter is pretty dark.
That's because Robert Rodriguez understands this simple cinematic truth before all others: Danny Trejo is THE SHIT! In everything. Period.
I'm a huge supporter and fan of both Rodriguez and Trejo... but Spy Kids 2 was an affront to both their talents.

Sorry, I have never seen any of these Spy Kids movies but just on face value I refuse to believe Danny Trejo was subpar in SK2.
<
Please note, you'll never get me to admit that DT (and especially RR for that matter! lol) doesn't sometimes choose some dubiious or even utter shite projects but I just can not personally recall an instance where DT himself has been bad in a film or TV project. That's my myopic fangurl story and I'm sticking by it!

I wouldn't even say "shite" so much as "pandering to his children."

With all this Trejo talk, make sure you guys see Champion. I saw it years ago before it was cool.

Perhaps the SK2 material was below Trejo, yet he was able to elevate it due to his putting on Shakespeare and Beckett plays while doing time at San Quentin. (which part of the previous statement isn't true? )

Actually, though, Trejo is a:

"prolific actor in both films and television, acting alongside some of Hollywood's most famous actors, including Jean-Claude Van Damme, Johnny Depp, Al Pacino, Nicolas Cage, Charles Bronson, George Clooney, John Malkovich, Robert De Niro, Harrison Ford, Val Kilmer, and Antonio Banderas. Trejo has often appeared in five or more movies per year in various genres. Major releases in which he has acted include Blood in Blood Out, Animal Factory, " Bubble Boy" Anaconda, Marked for Death, xXx, Desperado, Once Upon a Time in Mexico, Heat, From Dusk till Dawn, Con Air, Six Days Seven Nights, Spy Kids, The Replacement Killers, Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy, Predators, Urban Justice, The Devil's Rejects, Valley of Angels, Delta Farce, Grindhouse, Rob Zombie's Halloween and Snoop Dogg's Hood of Horror."

Im glad you said that, seriously this entire time I thought you were a dude. I didnt question it until you mentioned going on a shoe buying spree or something In NHTA in reference to my buying a car. I was like WTF is a guy doing going on a shoe buying spree? Oh wait, maybe you arent a guy.

I just hate to point blank ask, are you a dude or a chick, might be insulting and all that.

Yup, I roll with the XX chromosomes of this world! And I do so, SO dearly love shoes, heh.

No worries, Mikita's Helmet way back in the day at the O-Boards hedged his bets and thought by default I was a dude too---tried to cover his ass saying that my user name and avatar were too gender neutrally ambiguous! I know right? The nerve!

With all this Trejo talk it, it reminds me that one of my greatest film desires has yet been met and that's for my boy Jim Jarmusch to give a fat, juicy role to DT in one of his films---something with some "Down By Law" flavor to it as that's one of my favorite films. They're both getting up there in years and I fear at this point it ain't ever gonna happen alas. But how badass is even the thought of it?

If Jarmusch does a sequel to GHOST DOG, he can call it MAD DOG and have DT in it, dude!

Watched CHAMPION a few hours ago and Trejo certainly turned his life around and now makes, and has made, a huge difference in the lives of others. Nice to see that Eddie Bunker - love his crime novels and liked him as Mr. Blue in RESERVOIR DOGS - gave Trejo his break into film and that Trejo took that opportunity and ran with it.

The Japanese import of the GHOST DOG soundtrack is great.

RZA's soundtrack for "Afro Samurai" (an anime series I love BTW!) is also totally badass.
