That movie was not at all what I expected. It is very much a dark comedy. I wasnt expecting to see an 11 year old girl kill so many people. I wouldnt let a girl that age watch that movie let alone be in it gunning/knifing fools down.
I just watched this too and I agree it wasn't what I was expecting... it was better. The dark comedy tone works perfectly for it and I don't see why everyone has such a problem with the little girl swearing and killing people. It's a fucking movie. One that's Rated R... not for children. Besides, little kids swearing is always funny.

I thought the girl was great, the lead guy was adequate, the movie was average, and as always, a shocker to no one Nick Cage ruined anything it could have been. Luckily the wife and I were drinking while watching it, so i'll give it a 3 out of 5

Watched Hot Tub Time Machine last night.

Wouldn't pay to rent the DVD/PPV. Worth a look on cable or Netflix.

I honestly think it's one of Nic Cage's better performances.

Saw Scott Pilgrim vs The World this weekend and it was easily one of the best couple hours I've spent at the movies in a very long time. I've never read the graphic novel, but was impressed with the way the movie was delivered and I'm pretty sure Edgar Wright is mostly to thank for that. With that said, this movie is definitely for a specific type of person... if you grew up in the 80's, are a lover of comic books, and video games (especially 8-bit). Kieran Culkin steals every scene he's in and even Cera stretches himself a little beyond the role he always plays. Still the movie was fun enough to overlook that Mary Elizabeth Winstead and Michael Cera have like zero on-screen chemistry.

This has easily made my purchase on blu-ray list.

I saw Kick ass, Date night, and The Other guys while I was up in Winnipeg, I liked all of them and would recommend them to most people, especially ones who like guy movies (for kick ass and the other guys, date night is good for most people).

Watched the Expendables this weekend while my Family went to the Lottery Ticket.

Save that $50 and get the DVD rentals (both films).

Un Prophete (A Prophet) French w/English subtitles.

Easily, the best film I've seen this year.

Malik, 19, an illiterate French orphan of Arab descent, who's always been in trouble with the law is sent to prison for six years after a fight with a gendarme. The film deals with how he navigates his way between Corsicans (who run the prison) and Muslims (who don't consider him one of their own), to get by inside prison. Seen from the inmates POV, it's one of the most brutal prison/crime films I've seen.

That's because he's never been able to recreate the awesome cousin-lovin' angst he had with Alia Shawkat/Maeby on Arrested Development!

Seriously though, glad to see someone else point out that Cera NEVER goes against type or out of his comfort zone as a performer. Now don't get me wrong, AD is hands-down one of my Top 5 favorite TV series of all-time and there is nothing I don't respect or dotingly adore about it but after seeing about 3 post-AD films with MC I pretty much thought to myself, huh. . .so clearly it was really less "George Michael" we were seeing onscreen per se and more Michael Cera.

Moon.

Thought it was pretty well acted by Sam Rockwell, and well written. A little slow at first, got a little odd when the clones started to interact, but then the story picked up very well (and then the interaction did not seem so odd). One thing that bothered me was the "anti-HAL9000" of GERTY. As much as it seems like it could be a sci-fi flick, it is not in terms of what is modern sci-fi, more of a thinking mystery-thriller IMO.

Worth taking a look if you like a movies that make you wonder and think about what is going on; is not going to throw a billion twists to cover a basic plot and does not blast music, fast cuts, and explosions every other cut or scene; yet still has an interesting premise.

I will say, however, while Cera largely plays the same role, there are moments he does break out of it. With this being part action film, he kind of had to.

I just didn't buy Cera as a guy Winstead would date.

Fully endorse that review of Moon as well. Slow at first, slightly predictable, but overall, worth seeing.
