Never did get the zombie thing. Aliens are interesting. We probably have a couple on the board.
One thing I don't like is how TV shows can in my opinion, bastardize a genre or style. Take zombies for instance, that used to be a cool relatively unique thing. Thanks to The Walking Dead I probably don't wanna see another zombie movie ever again, and it's probably impossible to get one green lit anyway now. TV series can easily over-saturate the market.
I was going to list all the zombie movies and TV shows that have been and are currently being made since TWD started, there are literally too many, I don't feel like wasting my time.
In the decade leading up to The Walking Dead we had 28 Days Later and it's sequel, Resident Evil, Shaun of the Dead, Dawn of the Dead and it's sequel, and Zombieland. All were major releases. In the decade following The Walking Dead, so far we've had World War Z and Warm Bodies. Two projects that were in the works before The Walking Dead even came alone.
Bolded for drama queen.:drama:Take zombies for instance, that used to be a cool relatively unique thing. If anything, the genre was a bit tired for this generation, and TWD may have helped extend it a bit.
I count 14, 9 in the last two years. Yes the genre is really dying out. BTW of the shows on that list, your personal favorite, *Fear The Walking Dead is the only one I've seen, and it kinda sucks. I would guess they all probably suck, anyone feel free to correct me. So now we blame Star Wars for all the bad rip offs that came out after it? That is fucking stupid.

You mean shitty TWD knock offs like FTWD can over-saturate the market. Don't blame the hit show for crap trying to ride it's coattails.
Your irrational hatred of TWD has been a source of amusement for some here, I used to get a kick out of it. Enough already, it's coming off as desperate and pathetic now. Find another hit show to rag on. Game of Thrones is coming back soon, so chin up.
Especially as others have mentioned above, with TV in a sort of golden age at the moment, it's even more surprising that TWD is as high up as it is.
Did a zombie eat your brain?
Thanks to Houston I probably don't wanna see another post ever again! Thanks to The Walking Dead I probably don't wanna see another zombie movie ever again
So I guess this is as good as a place as any, or I guess it can be moved to the TWD thread, but:
What in the hell is so good about TWD? I've only seen the first season and the first two episodes, the ones directed by Darabont, were excellent. The rest of the first season, in my opinion, was just okay. I thought the Telltale TWD games were better...
So I have to ask, with the so-so acting, and what I assume to be what, 5 seasons of new ways to dodge zombies, what keeps people coming back?
Edit: Especially as others have mentioned above, with TV in a sort of golden age at the moment, it's even more surprising that TWD is as high up as it is.
Still gotta watch Halt and Catch Fire. I have a buddy who swears by it too.
How so?
The genre was tired at that point. Meaning, despite whatever came before it, audiences of the generation were losing interest. It's silly to blame a successful TV show for the demise of a genre.
Do you have anything backing this up?

Same here, and agreed with TWD. I watch because at least they make it interesting. The whole feudalism angle they are taking this season interests me to no end.I really love The Walking Dead, but I'm also not big into the Zombie genre. So there is my bias laid on the table.
That being said, if you have one successful show, that doesn't mean other shows in the same genre aren't allowed to be good. I'm not sure I understand the correlation. If anything, the genre was a bit tired for this generation, and TWD may have helped extend it a bit. Like I said, I'm not a big zombie genre fan so take that as an outsiders observation at best.
