i remember i proposed Luol Deng for Wilson Chandler trade @ the beginning of the year

i wish we did that....Chandler signed with Denver for peanuts

we coulda amnestied boozer and let some guys like CJ, Korver and Brewer walk and had cap room to sign somebody else like Eric Gordon

The Bulls tried to get Gasol. At the time, Jerry West wouldn't sell Gasol. West resigned and the new GM gave Gasol to the Lakers for peanuts. We were not in the right position at the right time. We had that dangling expiring PJ Brown contract in 06/07..perfect to acquire Gasol, but nope. A year later, we weren't in that position anymore.

Boozer was the backup upon backup option. He was the only big signing you could make at that point. He's pretty much what I expected in an aging power forward who could never play defense to begin with.

Thibs has not coached this season very intelligently in my opinion. Rose's injuries are mostly his own doing due to the style he plays. An injury of this magnitude was bound to happen. The one that to me really gets Thibs in trouble is Luol Deng and his minutes, especially when you have a perfect capable player, who should get minutes experiencing the NBA game on the bench, just sat there most nights.

Next year, we won't have to worry about a grueling schedule. Probably wont matter though because Rose will be out for awhile. Hopefully management makes moves to fill the void until he returns.

Your memory is way better than mine, had forgotten the details on Memphis/LA/Gasol. That Bulls team would have been fun to watch had they acquired some paint/board presence.

Since the rest is dead-on as well, I'll move back onto this Rose ACL issue. Normally you allow the injury to calm down, treat with ice and electric stimulation prior to surgery. You cannot really strengthen the quad b/c you cannot stabilize the knee other than perhaps doing minimal leg extensions.

Bottom line is, it shouldn't take more than 6 months after the surgery date to be near 100% b/c rehab starts immediately and it's aggressive. However, as you mentioned a 9 month time frame may have a silver lining. It may force the organization to sign that elusive Pippen they so desperately need. It's a shame we even have to discuss yet more FA acquisitions, wish we could build through the draft and save the $$.

I have talked about this amongst friends before, and think it could be a very good move and step in the right direction personally, he shoots the 3 a bit worse this luol this past season, he's just as good a defender in Thibs' scheme and tons and tons more athletic.

Not to mention he's a bit younger, can get his own shot and finish with some authority, and doesn't constantly need to be set up....... I'd say do it if ATL was willing to work with the bulls.

i actually think smith for deng would be a good move..if you can get atlanta to agree on it

my only issues with him is that he's a bit of a headcase...other than that i really think he i underrated

josh smith has a similar contract(in terms of per year) to luol deng as well..so its not like there is a monetary unbalance

Rose and BG would be one of the best backcourt duos right now
