lambeau has some bomb ass hybrid turf with a heating system. we should do that rather than switch to 100% artificial

https://www.si.com/nfl/2015/10/01/nfl-stadium-turf-grass-rankings

The only stadium in the league to use the Desso GrassMaster system (which Denver gave up in their field renovation this year) that weaves artificial turf into a predominantly natural-grass surface, this hybrid has proven to work in Green Bay, giving the cold-weather climate an added boost and strength during the winter. The Packers are also the first team to install a heating system under the field (it's been upgraded since the original installment), which keeps the field from ever really turning into the Frozen Tundra.

I heard on radio that the Park District wants grass because they do other things at Soldier Filed besides Bear games.
And that natural grass is better for all the other things. That they can't just switch to turf only for the Bears and ignore the other events.

I'm sure there's some statistic that shows the vast majority of the Bears IRs, annually, happen at Soldier Field.

well then build a new fucking stadium and tell the park district to suck it. GOD i'm so tired of the crappy field. fix it already. :obama:

That's why I hope a billionaire that has money would buy the team. Just ditch soldier field and build a new stadium without tax payer funds.

This makes sense.

NAGY might finally be the guy who gets the park district groundskeeper to change the field from grass to field turf!

Was listening to the 670 the score on am radio and they were talking about the high paced fast college style chip Kelly offense that NAGY wants to install next season and said that it just won't work probably on grass and also the players hate it and don't like playing on it as well, so NAGY might tell the crooked park district that it's time to contemporize the dirt and turf into the modern scientific and technological age and literally bring soldier field back to the future and finally get artificial state of the art field turf installed.

Can't wait for 2018!

With the recent added emphasis on player safety, highly unlikely the Bears switch to turf anytime soon

Something's got to change. Illinois is the #1 state where people are moving out.

Have you ever been to Decatur? In all honesty why would anyone with common sense want to stay in a state so heavily taxed, with shitty weather and corrupt politicians?

I mean, outside of the major metropolitan area of Chicago and its surrounding suburbs. I wouldn't be living in this state at all.

I say keep the grass. Without it and the shitty field we would miss out on the experience of having to stop a game to remove 8" of rebar sticking out of the ground.

But it's not used nearly like soldier field. The problem is how much stuff still happens there and Heinz field has had the same issue always considered one of the worse fields than the bears.

Because having lots of events, high school games, and college football games make it a struggle and even with hybrid that usage will tear it up.

Who makes the final decision to possibly put down field turf at Soldier Field?

The Bears. If they would like the Chicago Park District to change to an artificial playing surface, it would happen and the park district would be thrilled as it would allow for more events to be held at the stadium. But the Bears have shown zero interest in moving away from the grass field. In fact, I believe coach John Fox prefers a natural grass surface. In other words, don’t get excited about a change anytime soon.

Grass soaks up barf and piss from the concerts. They'd have to clean turf.

Deer hunting, which sucks in the Chicago metro.

I mean I have a bias there. My dad has 50 acres in upper Michigan by Crystal Falls. Hunting and snowmobiles are life.
