It's really an opinion when it comes to what his best dunk was. To me the 360 was the best because of how fast he spun. His first attempt at it had a windmill in it too, so if he had completed that, to me that would have been a 50. The combined speed and sheer power of the dunk is what impressed me.

Meh...you're right...it's all in opinion...Just not that impressed w/ a 360 dunk in a competition that has featured a trillion of them over the years...

The NBA really, really needs to do something about the Dunk Contest. It's beyond pathetic now. If you make a dunk on your 1st attempt, your get a higher score, obviously. You don't get a 50 when you throw the dunk down on the 7th attempt when the crowd has already fallen asleep. DeMar DeRozen got absolutely fucked over, he was my 2011 NBA Dump Contest Champion. Blake, your a monster and all that, but you definitely did not deserve to win, or go to the finals at all. Bullshit.

This yeras dunk contest was so stupid. Black griffin jumping over a car, WTF. And McGee using two hoops, whats up with all the props, man it was corny. how about rim rockin dunks, like Vinsanity MJ, Wilkins did. I didnt watch it but caught the condensed highlights. Hard to get exited over nothing for me.

The last time it was good was when Desmond Mason and Jason Richardson were in the final round.

i thought the dunks were pretty good but the result was WEAK.

here's my rankings:

1. derozan-his first dunk was really cool and the reverse windmill was absolutely ridiculous. he got screwed.
2. mcgee-the first two dunks were really impressive in my opinion. two balls on two baskets, then three. i thought it was cool.
3. ibaka-i actually liked his. the story one was funny and impressive. i woulda given him a 50 if he got it the first time. free throw line was ok but he's too tall i guess...
4. blake-two spin dunks, over the hood of a car, arm in rim was pretty good. but the car was too gimmicky, and the two spin dunks have basically been done before.

A lot of the dunks have been done already. I guess for them the only way to be original is to bring out some props. Unless they can really rock the rim like Vince did back in the day (thank you DeRozan), you have to accept the props because they're going to be here for awhile.

blake shoulda brought john wall out to redo that bounce pass alley-oop-to-reverse during the rookie-soph game. that was impressive

derozan's 2nd dunk is definitely dunk of the night. never seen anything like it, nailed it the first time too (a rarity these days).

blakes first dunk would have been almost as good had he nailed it on the first try, because the one he got in was different than the initial attempt and appeared to be less difficult. but initially, it was a single handed reach and then pump to 2-handed 360. that is ridiculously hard and definitely woulda deserved 50.

they need to try limiting the number of tries to 3 total, or like someone mentioned, deduct a point for each extra attempt.

^ya definitely deduct for # of attempts...it's ridiculous that a guy who gets the dunk on like his 7th try can get in the 40s or 50

I didnt watch the contest for the first time in years. It just gets worse and worse. Way too many attempts and the props are fn dumb as shit. Theres only so many variations of dunks you can do and theyve basically done them all. Nothing else is really surprising. Cupcakes, jerseys, cars, jumping over Spud Webb, none of that really impresses me. Props just take away from the dunks itself.

Good for Derozan saying he was through with the "NBA Prop Dunk Contest." That's what it's become.

With Griffin's last dunk, you take away the stupid choir and you take away Kenny Smith's on-mic shenanigans and while you have a good visual image of him leaping over part of the car, at the end of the day it was something half the guys in the NBA could do.

Marko Milic's dunk over the car was far better than Griffin's.

Griffin shouldn't have even made it to the Finals anyway.

When Vince Carter won it in 2000 he missed one dunk the entire night.

Just saying.

When you miss 5 dunks in a row on your second dunk it's hard to really say he won it.

At this time, I would like to take this opportunity to announce my...retirement...from chicitysports.com. The pressure has gotten to me and I've given it a lot of thought and understand I need more time with my family (code for "I need more time on the golf course") and feel it's time to move on.

I wanted to take this opportunity to announce my return to chicitysports.com.

There is a lot more left in my tank and I feel there is more for me to prove.
