Interesting, like this one: "d. The parties will agree upon a comprehensive international play plan in which Clubs and Player
will visit countries in which games have not been staged in the past."

What does this mean?
"c. Weekend waivers during the regular season will be implemented beginning in 2012."

Dunno. Try Google and see what comes up. I'll do that later when I get to it, writing a blog...

CBA Reactions: Marlins, Twins, Amateur Draft: MLB Rumors - MLBTradeRumors.com

Jim Callis of Baseball America (via Twitter) calculates that 20 teams went 16% or more over slot this year, which would have triggered 100% tax and a loss of two first-rounders under this CBA.

The overwhelming sentiment in baseball is that the CBA will prevent amateur talent from coming into baseball, tweets Jeff Passan of Yahoo.

More from Passan (via Twitter) as he writes that the new amateur rules will have the greatest effect on successful, low-revenue teams like the Rays, which now have even less room for error than before.

Hmmph.

This entire CBA is only good for the 10 lowest spending and lowest revenue teams, going to hurt the league going forward.

It actually isnt even good for them. Where most small market teams spend money is paying over slot in the draft now they cant do that unless they want to give up future 1st rd picks.

The only team this helps is the White Soxs and thats because they are lazy in the draft and barley spend.

Thankfully that hasn't hurt us at all

I dont know if the White Soxs have bad scouts or what (i dont think they do they find decent players). But they are really lazy they only spend like 3m per year. I dont like the rule for that reason if a team wants to go out and build though the draft and put there resources to do it they should be allowed. And if a team doesnt spend they should be punished like the Soxs were by not drafting and paying the best talent. This will kill teams like the Rays and Pittsburgh and unfortunately the Cubs Theo was gonna be a huge over slot guy IMO with us and now he cant be.

Also will kill the talent pole no more Bubba Starling's or Dillion Maples with this new CBA

We don't actually know that yet, but what is an interesting point is that because the slot recommendations are more enforced now, the Dillon Maples will be drafted in the first or second round at their comparable bonuses rather than in the 14th round and waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay overslot.

The Bubba Starlings may be a bit tougher, but you have to admit it would be a tough decision to go to college for 2-4 years (unpaid, under-the-table aside) to try to get drafted by the NFL, or take the multi-million $ signing bonus and play baseball (even if they have to toil in the minors for a few years).

They took away rounds from the draft? CBA is even worse now, worst CBA ever.

Are you kidding? How many 41-50 rounders actually make MLB?

Not many make it but imagine if they didnt have those RDS..then those who did make it wouldnt have :(

Think about it. 10 RDS missing with 30 teams...Thats 300 players not in minor leagues now

That's 300 players who would've filled out minor league rosters for life. Those rounds were necessary when you had the ability to go way overslot. Now, there's almost no chance that an already established high-caliber recruit will take that little money (capped by the new CBA) to come out in the 41st round when he knows he can be a 1st or 2nd rounder the next year.

Also, if those kids were high schoolers and any good they would play for a college. If they were out of college eligibility they'd go play in Japan. If there's any talent, let someone else discover it while the MLB focuses on the guys who have a better chance of being good at baseball.

Piazza was like 66th round, that's why it was bad to cut it down to 50, now 40 makes it worse.

He was also drafted when he was just 18 going on 19, so in today's draft, he would either go to college and then come out as an earlier draftee, or be drafted then but in the 39th round or even earlier if someone saw that potential. It's not like they don't have options if they're actually good at baseball.

If you have the time, find all the HOF players who came in via the draft and find out when they were drafted. I'm going to bet that very few of them are 40th-rounders or beyond. Teams might put some effort behind trying to snag a hidden gem in the later rounds, but they're going to spend most of their time going after the guys who are good enough to get drafted in the early rounds. Losing 10 rounds worth of minor league filler isn't going to do much more than delay some deposits into agents' bank accounts.
