A successful drafted QB is almost assured of being a top ten QB eventually. Soon this will be a league without Brady, Manning, Roethlisberger, Palmer and Brees. There will be plenty of openings for a good young QB to crack the top ten.

Intangibles and being able to run won't get you on Top 10 QB list.
On the other hand, very good accuracy and technique, along with ability to read the field would definitely bring you there.

Just sayin...

If Pace wants to skip a QB at #3, fine, but I will hold a real issue if he gives up multiple draft picks to move back into the late end of the first for a QB. I'd rather have a QB + all draft picks in the 2/3 then S/QB and no 2nd/3rd. I'm probably preaching to the choir and I know I've said this before.
imagine though if you could get your future QB of the defense at 3 (Adams) and then getting the QB they wanted all along later in the first. I would give up a 4th and next year's 2nd for that I think.

That would be a nice luxury, however I wouldn't risk it. This draft is deep with secondary talent. QB is a pressing need for this team.

It has been since the 80's

Yeah, make it a race issue because Watson is highly questionable QB prospect from passing technique/accuracy perspective, but intangibles, **** yeah.

Btw. Kaaya has the most sound passing skillset of all QB prospects, but screw him, he can't run like a RB (as if that matters in NFL).

Glennon/Sanchez trades are designed to allow a QB to be drafted and spend a year developing/learning a pro system. Otherwise they make no sense, and Pace appears to be a competent GM, so everything screams QB at #3 or worst case #36 - but don't see them taking the risk of waiting to see who is available in the second round.

My gut says Trubisky - but happy with him or Watson

Kaaya misses high and wide when the pocket collapses, and he is on the move. In the NFL that gets picked, he got lucky at the U that more didnt gdt picked.

Why else would you call someone who isn't a running QB a running QB?

Dude ran for 372 times in past 2 seasons for a total of 1734 yards (those are basically RB numbers), he's a dual theat QB with questionable passing technique that needs a serious development.

And people here want him at #3, because intangibles.

Thank god we didn't need a QB at the time of Tim Tebow Draft because I would've gone mad reading posts here.

All you would be without is the 3rd. I will easily take two first round picks over one first, one second, and one third, ESPECIALLY if that second first rounder is a QB. ****, a defensive stud at 3 and a franchise QB at like 26. You seriously wouldn't take that?

You're not guaranteed that a team will want to trade with you. Teams that DO agree to trade will want an arm and a leg since everyone will know its for a QB. You are guaranteed a QB at #3. And you are probably guaranteed a starting level safety be will there at #36. And you still have your 3rd round pick. Taking the QB first seems much safer to me.

I can't speak for other people.... but I personally can think of 76 other reasons over the last two years I'd draft him.

He's a QB who can run. Different from a "running QB". He isn't going to have designed run plays in the NFL, but he does have the ability to extend broken plays with his athleticism, or pick up first downs in instances where other QBs would take sacks or throw the ball away. Why would you consider an extra weapon in a player's arsenal to be a bad thing?

I want him at 3 because he's a terrific player and I think he's going to be a star in the NFL.

Hahahaha. Running QB, check. Intangibles, check. Tim Tebow, check. You've nailed every lazy Watson cliche in one post.

Watson is a far better QB than Tim Tebow. Let's not be silly.

Tebow wasn't half the QB Watson is...not sure why you made that comparison

NFL, with constant pu$$ification of rules, has clearly become a passing league.

Considering that, you absolutely need a top end QB who can tear opposing defenses apart with his passing skill, guy like Peyton/Brady/Rodgers if you want a sustained success and be able to contend for title year after year after year.

Dual threat QBs with questionable arms just can't give you that kind of performance (remember how Prescott looked like going against Packers team that was inferior to Cowboys in all aspects except for elite Rodgers arm).

Therefore you absolutely fall in love for guys with that type of elite arm potential, for example that's why guys like Stafford, Luck and Winston have been drafted as #1 overall in past 10 years.

And that's also why this years QB class makes me sad, because that kind of potential just ain't available.

So from that perspective I want Bears to keep sucking badly and get #1 pick overall after #1 pick overall until they finally stumble upon their Peyton, their Brady or their Rodgers.
Why am I saying that, because this game isn't played for being mediocre, it ain't played for couple of Playoffs appearances, it's played for Super Bowls and making dynasties.
If you ain't first, you're last

Brady dropped to the 6th round largely because the consensus was that he couldn't start in the NFL because he didn't have the arm to drive the ball.

Therefore you absolutely fall in love for guys with that type of elite arm potential, for example that's why guys like Stafford, Luck and Winston have been drafted as #1 overall in past 10 years.

So you want an underachiever with a rocket arm. Seems familiar. Can't think why.

So from that perspective I want Bears to keep sucking badly and get #1 pick overall after #1 pick overall until they finally stumble upon their Peyton, their Brady or their Rodgers.

Not sure if this is your serious strategy. I'm just .... I got nothing.

wow.

It's because he did everything slow. His arm wasn't that bad but obviously got better after being in the league a year and working hard to improve.
