I like the Bickell signing.

Not sold on Boynton, but he's an improvement over Cullimore.

Happy about Bickell. I am sold on this kid also and think he can have a solid NHL career. Im not expecting huge numbers from him anytime soon but I like his game.

As for Boynton? Meh sure why not. He better learn to block shots like Sopel becuase essentialy this is the guy he is replacing as far as a roster spot goes. Boyton is slow now but I have always been okay with him as a player. What he lacks now he has to make up for in other areas..again blocking shots would be nice.

Bickell is the man. He will be an excellent 4th liner for the Hawks this season.

Re: [NEWS]: Bryan Bickell signing multi-year deal, Boynton

Of course you keep Bickell, esp given the price tag.

I like having veteran experience at the 6/7 dman slot, esp when guys like Lalonde, Leddy and Olsen aren't ready. The days of guys like that being called up before they're ready are over.

Boynton really impressed me when he stood up and gave Wiz some poundcake when he tried to decapitate Seabs. As I recall that was Boynton's first game as a Hawk, and he had only played a few minutes during the game. And he had played for the Ducks earlier in the season. And Boynton played his role fine when he got into playoff games and did not hurt us.

That and perhaps a 50% + haircut on the 1.5 million he made last year.
If someone offered me 750,000 I'd feel like i won the lotto. And who wouldn't want to play with this team and be a part of all the great games sure to happen this coming season ? It's a no-brainer.

Something about multiple shots a day just to play the game.

Has to be a tough decision to hang em up but multiple needles per day has to be a grind.
he's been a Type 1 since he was about 19. Whether he plays Hockey or not, multiple shots and checking his blood sugar level has been a part of his life for quite some time. It's no picnic but like my 10 yr old son who was diagnosed a year ago and plays Hockey, it's just another part of their routine.I would love to see him continue to play for atleast a couple more seasons and I have to agree with another post, he's better than Cullimore!!!!!

He's a solid #5 or #6 defenseman in the NHL. He'll bring a bit of a veteran presence and he's not one to let his teammates get bullied around. I would rather have a guy like Boyton who can play a regular shift and PK while bringing some veteran toughness then a guy like Scott who it seems is going to only bring one thing.

bicks a no brainer.....really for the time he was up and down

he did great.....

boyt......really smart and can move the puck fairly well....

love to see him back.....but....I do remember seeing something

somewhere on how many shots he had to take and he might of

had a problem or two with it late in the season.....
Great news for Bryan. Class act that I think will add alot to the team.

Bickell is definitely a plus for the Hawks and he is worthy of the contract.

Boynton I am just not sure about. I don't mean that in a bad or good way

just undecided.

Glad to hear that Skille's name has not dropped as of yet.
So..we're ok with Bickell, who was drafted a year earlier, high 2nd round pick - who Skille has produced much more in the AHL and a bit - albeitbrief times in the NHL..but Bickell is a plus and Skille not? :?

Unfortunately for Skille his bonus contract hurt him as we could not afford to bring him up last year. That's why Bickell was here more and looked good in the process. Every time Skille was called up I didn't get the feeling he was cut out for the long haul in the bigs.

One way deal? Rockford in the rear view mirror.

I assume since that salaries are the same that this would be the case?

Excellent signing. With each passing day I become more confident we'll be able to keep Niemi. Money will be tight but its becoming more and more possible with each move. That is a VERY low cap hit for Bickell.
