Greatest player in White Sox history and one of my all time favorites.

Frank is many things but, a smart man he is not....definitely couldn't handle managing. :)

:lmao:

Funny and I agree with you 100%.

If Kenny doesn't hire a good, competent, seasoned veteran manager, who is a proven winner like Francona....(plus he's familiar with the White Sox organization) then, I might just write off the 2012 season.

I was secretly rooting for the Red Sawx to fail so that Francona would be available sooner.

I likely will as well. Unless some other big changes are made.

Looks like Tito is available as he told the Red Sox he will not return.

You have a right to your opinion....but, the "pressure" with the Red Sawx is a whole different animal than it is with other teams.

Plus you don't want him because he isn't Ryne Sandberg

Ryno Ryno Ryno!!

I agree with you it is different but if we get successful the pressure is definitely in Chicago. ANd he'll have a ton less to work with than in Boston. If it weren't for his pressure comment I would be all about TF.

Francona to replace Ozzie?

08:16 AM ET 09.30 | A Terry Francona departure from Boston may be a mutual decision. If the White Sox have designs on making [Francona] their successor to Ozzie Guillen, one important door has been opened. Francona has had enough of his eroding Boston experience, a major-league source said, and will ask the club not to exercise the option on his contract. "He has had his fill of the whole thing," the source told the Sun-Times. Francona, who guided the Red Sox to two World Series championships, decided it was time to cut ties before the Red Sox' September collapse came to its horrifying conclusion Wednesday night. His contract has options worth $4.25 million for 2012 and $4.5 for 2013, more than double what Guillen was paid this season.

Price tag seems to be a bit too high for Kenny and Jerry to pay. Hopefully I'm wrong and they surprise us all.

I dont think the Sox will pay him, but if they are willing to he is the most logical choice. But lets not forget that managing the Red Sox and the collection of All-Star players is alot different than managing on the South Side as the White Sox dont have unlimited payroll

From the Carmines, to the pale Hose. I can dig that.

Kenny and Jerry better hire this guy or someone close to his level, otherwise Sox Fest will get really ugly for them.

I'd love to sit in on the Q&A session if they don't hire Tito.

If Francona is willing then there's no reason why he shouldn't be the manager of the 2012 Chicago White Sox.

He's the perfect fit.

Interesting:

Francona, Red Sox meeting this morning; he will be out as manager - Extra Bases - Red Sox blog

Francona would be considered by the Chicago White Sox, who are seeking a new manager in the wake of Ozzie Guillen going to the Marlins. Francona's calm approach would be seen as a tonic on Chicago following the tumult that often surrounded Guillen. He is a former minor league manager in the White Sox organization and has the respect of owner Jerry Reinsdorf.

They've also been speculating on Boston Radio WBZ-FM that Francona already has a deal with Jerry Reinsdorf to manage the White Sox.

Bob Neumeier who also works for CSN-NE and NBC says Francona was contacted by the White Sox on Thursday in a non tampering way. Salary is NOT an issue.

Seems like the White Sox are jumping on this. If they're the first team to get to him, then I believe he'll come. Having a connection and roots here is pretty key in his decision IMO.
