Armstrong was a really good DE. I think he's still the only player in history to lead the NFL in sacks without starting a game, and he did that at age 35. He was still sacking QBs at age 38. The Bears shouldn't have let him go.

I remember driving home from work and the road was closed because Alonzo Spellman was wandering around and none of the cops wanted to confront him. Incredible stuff from the Bears organization.
The Bears should have never drafted him. We nicknamed him "the statue", as he barely moved when the ball was snapped. If he set some sort of sack record at 35 years old he must have had three HOF teammates on the line.

Didn't know Armstrong led the league w/o starting...good to know....Was Alonzo in the buff? I believed he did that once, or maybe not.....lol.... But he was definitely a headcase.
