My favorite teams
  1. Chicago Cubs
  1. Chicago Fire
  1. Chicago Bulls
  1. Chicago Bears
  1. Chicago Blackhawks
  1. Arizona Wildcats
But the team had to offer/agree to it. I usually side with the owners in contract negotiations, but I'm with the players this time. Everything the owners wanted in 2004 they got and now they say they can't survive. I can agree about 5 year contracts, yet they continue to give 5+ year contracts. Free agency after 10 years. Seriously?

The players' offer was fair.

They cant survive because phoenix is bleeding them dry

Centre Kyle Turris will be a member of the Ottawa Senators for the foreseeable future.

On Wednesday, the club announced that the 23-year-old had signed a five-year, $17.5 million contract extension with the club.

The club did not release details of the deal, that sees Turris signed through the 2017-18 season.

Turris established new career highs in goals (12), assists (17), points (29) last season.

He was the third overall pick in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft by the Phoenix Coyotes.

The Edmonton Oilers have agreed to terms with forward Jordan Eberle on a six-year, $36 million contract extension.

The 22-year-old scored 34 goals and added 42 assists in 78 games for the Oilers last season.

In 147 career games with the Oilers, the Regina, Saskatchewan native has 52 goals and 119 total points.

Eberle was originally drafted by Edmonton in the first round of the 2008 NHL Entry Draft.

Eberle is definitely one of the more exciting players to watch in my eyes. Still would be real surprised to see Sam Gagner in an Oilers uniform for much longer. A whole lot of offense on that team...missing in the defensive and goaltending department though.

Luongo news

Roberto Luongo skated at the Florida Panthers' practice facility but made sure to leave before current Panthers goaltender Jose Theodore got on the ice with teammates, according to the Sun Sentinel. Luongo told the paper that a trade to Florida "makes sense for myself, for my career and my family. This is a preferred location for obvious reasons, but I'm not shutting the door on other possibilities."

Wings news

According to Ansar Khan of MLive.com, Justin Abdelkader said he expects to have new contract with the Detroit Red Wings by tomorrow (Thursday).

“We were patient all summer and let things unfold; we weren’t in any big rush,” Abdelkader said. “Hopefully we’ll get it done this week. I’m just waiting to hear from my agent Wade Arnott.

Supposedly (according to Andy Strickland and Mlive) Carlo Colaiacovo is close to or has signed an agreement with the Wings for 2 years and a little over $2mil. Hard to find the specifics. If healthy, he will definitely help the Wings out on the blueline where they are still looking pretty thin.

Bunch of signings today in lieu of the expiration of the CBA (which has passed).

Kane, Ennis, Lucic, Fowler, Martin, Burrows, and Lehtonen all re-signed.
