Feels like klubnik has that allar hype going and neither are good. Sellers or nussmeier are probably the #1 guy next year
We'll see after the college football season is over. Everything predicted now will change pretty drastically when the season is over.

The argument was that 12 personnel only works with a strong pass catching TE2.

I'm sure he could use Kmet. The question is do they want to play Kmet when a guy who would cost probably $8-10m less would be functional for the #6 option and used mainly as a blocker.
I would just ditto Enasic. You bring up a great point. I don't know how important Kmet as a passcatcher will be to BJ. But it could be very important.

While in the 12, Bears could face teams where they have an excellent pass defender against Loveland, but very poor against Kmet. So it'll be Kmet getting the passes, passes that are winning the games. Whereas if the TE2 can't beat his man the play isn't successful.

Also, Loveland can get injured and the show must go on. Kmet might not be an elite receiver, but he's decent, he had 73 rec in '23.

But ended the year on injured reserve with an MCL injury on the same knee as his LCL tear, torn meniscus, and torn ACL. He also had a pedal Achilles tear on that same leg. He did look better than Chubb last year, but to say he's 100% better is a bit of a streatch.
The question for the group is…

Can he plow ahead for three yards on the goal line?

It would be nice to have great players at every position, I agree. But they will have to make choices.

nussmeier sucks, but i could see sellers going #1 if he follows up this coming season like he did the last

It’s a matter of money and value. They are not going to pay the backup TE 11m a year.
Yea, I keep seeing people think Kmet will work fine cause it's 12 personnel. This is now a financial thing. Kmet's days are probably numbered. He's likely the 5th target of the WR/TE group. You don't pay that guy 11 million. His production will just continue to decline as Loveland and Burden increase in reps.

I don't expect a move this year cause they need to be sure Caleb has all the tools possible to succeed. But, I would expect they look around a lot for buyers in 2026. They'd only move sooner if Loveland advances pretty quickly, which I'd guess would be unlikely and/or too risky.
