This one's for you IHF!

Unproven rookie goalie blah blah blah...

In the WCF he just made 44 saves against one of the best offensive teams in the league that he's never played against before.

Phenomenal game from Antti... some of the best saves of the playoffs thus far.

StuG or others - does anybody know the background of his service with the Finnish military?

Every male has to serve in the military for at least 6 months... it's not really by choice.

Halak:

SV%: .933 --> .926

GAA: 2.42 --> 2.63

Shutouts: 0

(After Tonight's Game)

Niemi:

SV%: .918

GAA: 2.44

Shutouts: 2

----------------------------------------

Just saying, if Halak gets shelled another game this series and the Habs don't advance... Conn Smythe is lost for Jaro.

That being said... if Niemi keeps the pace with how he's playing now and knock on wood the Hawks do something magnificent... is he the front runner for the Conn Smythe Trophy?

EDIT: As far as my research goes, no Blackhawk has ever one said trophy.

Toews is the front runner right now with Niemi right behind him.

So Stu you were in the army? Are you a lean mean killing machine now? I'm sure you would show those damn Russians or Sweeds who was boss.

I wouldn't call me lean... but yes... all 3 of us Finns on the board "served" in the military I would say. Rosh/Ruhtra I have always assumed to be over 18.

EDIT: Don't spark the patriot in me... we have some good Swedes on this board. Anyways, December 6th is what we fight for and is Finland's Independence Day.

Basically on this day we kicked the Russian Federation's ass. **** SOCIALISM!

all that hormone treated american beef must be messing with your brain, because you sound like an american when mixing up socialism and totalitarian communism.

i've been relieved from service due to a medical condition, so didn't need to do that huge stupid waste of time. the whole system is stupid and you can get thrown in jail if you refuse to either do the military service or the civil service. it's a huge waste of money and pointless. and having to listen to guys talking about their service is the most annoying and boring thing ever. sorry for the OT

WOOOOOO GO NIEMI #! WOOOOOOO

With 2 GWG so far, I wouldn't be surprised to see Buff get some consideration as well.

Rosh, I don't do politics and from all I know both systems suck. I'm no politics guru and quite frankly don't know the difference anyways, so **** them both. Lucky you getting relieved, I had to serve the full 6 months.

Klem, good point... I forgot about Buff. That's an interesting choice. If the Flyers make/win the finals I could see maybe Briere/Pronger get some love as well.

I have come to the conclusion that our nation would be best served by making everyone serve 6-12 months in either the military or public service. The "Me" generation certainly does not understand giving of one's self to help others.

I don't know what exactly people know and don't know... nor do I really care to be honest. But not EVERYONE possibly knew about this before it happened so I bring the news as it's released to the public for those not fortunate enough to know.

Happy? :D
