Kobe calling the ref that for a call he didn't like, is different then calling an obnoxious drunk fan that.

Im sure the fan was being less than civil, compared to a referee just doing his job and Kobe didn't like the call.

Neither are good moves and bad PR but Kobe's is much worse.

The fan might have been sober and innocent that he directed that slur to. Bennie Adams might have said something on the court to upset Kobe...we know he DID something on the court that upset him. Neither is more right or wrong...I don't think the fan deserves it anymore than the referee. But in any work environment using such a slur against a coworker (referee) or a customer (fan, or a belligerent fan) is over the top and uncalled for. Noah should have ignored him.

Yeah, I don't know of many jobs where you can call a customer what Noah called him and get away with it without any repercussions. And that's what fans are - customers of these players.

I'd never dog Noah for this because I get where he's coming from. He had poor production, was in foul trouble, was frustrated, and his emotions got the best of him. It happens to some of the best players...like Jermaine O'Neal and Ron Artest. ;) I kid....but it does happen to the best sometimes no matter how long they've been in the league.

Fact is, Stern can't have the LBGT alliance or whatever they are on his backs. They were calling him seconds after it happened. He's got to do something to alleviate the situation from the NBA's standpoint. action needs to be done no matter what player says something like that when on the court wearing a jersey.

I don't know of many jobs where the "customer" can be belligerant, insult and swear at the employee without any repercussions, either.

If you want to bring up any type of customer service job, the police would be called and that customer would be escorted off the premises.

Depends on what was said.

I don't know that the 3 or 6 letter F bomb is perfectly aligned with racial slurs because one takes aim at a person's ancestors, which are beyond his control, and the other targets behavior.

Still it is an ugly and hateful word and it has no place in a family entertainment venue. The penalties are going to keep getting steeper with each incident.

That fan wasn't a customer; he was a drunken, heckling, jerk and I think the Heat would have been happy to replace him with someone else waiting to get courtside seasts. Just because you pay for a ticket does not give you the right to act like a jackass.

Try going to a store and heckling the employees and see how long it takes before you are asked to leave.

If he paid for a seat he was a customer. Every, EVERY, team has hecklers for visiting teams...even if Chicago, believe it or not. It's how the players react to it that is the difference.

Do you have video of the heckler? I've not yet seen anyone say what the heckler said, much less confirm in any way the person was drunk.

The proof is he goaded a player into calling him a "******"!

I've been to countless sporting events. I'm sure you have too. I don't see players ever engaging fans unless the fans are hostile toward them and ask for it.

Absence of proof doesn't mean proof of absence. You seem like a reasonable guy. Do you think he said, "Let's go Heat!" and Noah said "F you, f____t!"? Of course not.

That isn't proof that the guy was 1. Drunk or 2. said anything incredibly insensitive. Maybe Noah overreacted to what was said. Who knows?

I've also seen players call fans "fucking pricks" because the fan laughed at them for fouling out..without using profanity. Sometimes players lose it for a second.

Is it possible the guy was drunk? Hell yes.

Is it possible that he said something derogatroy or inflmmatory toward Noah? Hell yes.

Can we state it as a fact?

No.

What player in basketball isn't heckled when they play away games? Big Baby was standing on the bench 3 inches from Lebron's ear when they were playing the Heat and yelling at him. Instead of Lebron turning around and calling Big Baby a name, he hit the 3-pointer right in front of him. That's how a professional handles a heckler - they make them pay with their on-court performance, not with childish name-calling.

I have no doubt the guy heckled Noah - nothing wrong with that - it's part of all sports. But I don't see how you can say they guy is drunk or even being a jerk, unless you think all hecklers are jerks. Hecklers are part of big sports. It's part of what makes being there live so fun.

If you want to make an argument about what professionalism by an athlete is never use Lebron James as an example unless you want to lose that argument every time

Noah was caught in the moment, the game wasn't going the Bulls' way. I don't approve of any player insulting a fan (and vice versa) but he was frustrated and lost his cool. Period, cut and dry...move on.

I just used him as a perfect example with hitting his 3 rather than calling Big baby a childish name.

Does that mean I lose?

Not professionalism.

Then again I'm sure you could look at any persons professional career and find examples of unprofessional moves.

But still...

Ya Lebron is a true class act:obama::turrible: I haven't even started talking about the "decision". Then after the Decision celebrating like they had just won a ring then saying they will win 8 rings LBJ is not a guy to look up try Ray Allen or Drose or Reggie Miller. LBJ is an arrogant ass when he doesn't need to be. You want a true professional look at Bobby Jones or Jack Nicklaus or Arnold Palmer much better men then they were at there sport.
