Let's see how he progresses this season. If he comes out and tears the NBA apart then that deal can be justified.

It's not like we have to sign the deal right now.

I love how the fans like to be mini gm's. Like it's their money they are not spending. Let's see how this plays out before we go all fantasy gm on Noah.

Noah doesn't deserve that type of money. he's not even an all-star yet.
70 million dollars is allstar-esque money.

Yeah.. cause we can't criticize what our team does with its budget? cmon now.

Noah just flat out is not worth 70 million. I don't think he's worth anything close to 60 either.

You can have your opinions, but it isn't our money, so it doesn't matter what we think he's worth.

Criticize all you want, but in the end it doesn't matter because whatever is going to happen will happen, and whatever won't happen, will not happen.

If that was the case, message boards wouldn't exist. If everything is going to happen regardless, why even comment?

The point people are making is that he's not worth that much money. I love Noah and think he's a great player but I hate when players do a little good and then all of a sudden their head is the size of a NBA regulation court.

Anybody who says "60 million dollars" isn't enough, deserves a spot in hell. When so many people in this world starve to death, live through extreme poverty....and this guy says 60 million dollars is not enough? I seriously laugh at this.

No way do we give him 70-75. People don't want to hear it but I wouldn't even give him 60 this offseason. Noah has flaws he has to fix before he gets more than 10 mill per. He's got to bulk up, put up great numbers for a full season and work on some sort of jumper. The guy is simply not worth it at this point. This make me much more willing to trade him. If Anthony makes 20 per and Deng makes 12 and Noah makes 14. I'd take my chances with a healthy anthony and a mle center.

When push comes to shove, Noah may very well be worth that $75M. Especially if they can dump Luol Deng's contract. It is definitely expensive though. I'm hoping it doesn't get that high.

I agree with this. When all this talk started I thought he'd resign for around 5 yrs/53 million, and I thought that was a little high, based on what he has done so far, but if he continues to progress I think he will be worth that in the future.

This has got to be his manager telling him, "get it now, because after the new CBA, it won't be there."

I can see 5/60 based on the current market, but I wouldn't go any higher than that. I think 70-75 is too high.

Maybe Noah thinks that salaries will continue to rise and in 4 years $12,000,000/yr will be under-paid for a player of his ability, and he doesn't want to be locked in.

I could scrape by on that!

So let me get this straight, not only are you saying that Carmelo Anthony isn't worth Joakim Noah, but that the Bulls should pass on getting Melo and give Noah what he wants, even if that means a $70 million plus contract? That's ridiculous.

Now, in isolation, Noah could be worth a decent amount of money, but you have to view this in concert with the Bulls' opportunity to get Carmelo Anthony essentially for Joakim Noah. Doing that makes passing on Melo and paying Noah this type of money flatly ridiculous.

That is a little bit oversimplified, but yeah. I believe the Bulls should fight hard to pay Noah as little as possible, but that he may very well be worth that $15M per-season. I hope that doesn't happen though.

It is just my opinion that trading Noah away now is too risky. This team is very deep and has tremendous potential. There were a lot of people that wrote off Detroit in the mid 2000's because they lacked a legit "superstar" but Billups, as their best player, was enough to lead them to 2 15+ playoff win seasons, and 7 straight Conference Finals. The Bulls also have a defensive-minded coach, and a player with tremendous up-side in Derrick Rose. This team needs to see Noah and Boozer on the floor together for a little while at the very least, and see how it goes. Noah has tons of potential to grow into an offensive option on offense too. If that happens, the Bulls could (I'm not saying that's likely) a title contender with close-to the same roster they have now.

jesus crap let him go into restricted free agency. lets match the highest offer. it's not like we're afraid of the of tax anymore. the signing of boozer insured that we're gonna be a luxury tax team. we're only a little under it righ. do so) we're prolly golden by just matching the next highest offer.

lets not let noah develop from an asset to a ba contrac

This is probably true, right here.

If Noah wan'ts $70-75 million, we should just wait for restricted free agency. I honestly can't remember a restricted free agent in that type of salary bracket being offered so much from another team that the players current team didnt match. If the number is 5 years $70-75 million, take the risk that Noah has another fantastic year and you can match whatever he is offered and won't look like a total putz. You give Noah near max money now, you could very well be regreting it big time by January.
