Does darth vader really need a heart?
Any of you been seeing CNN with their discussion of the heart transplant with tag lines on the screen reading "Is he too old?" "Other more deserving"?
Yeah, I've seen the headlines. I chuckle. They can ask the questions all they want, but the simple fact of the matter is that when you are former Vice President, you are afforded some opportunities that other folks just don't get. If you think he actually waited til his turn in that long list I'll never be able to convince you otherwise (not YOU specifically IHF, just the general you).
Didn't Cheney wait like, 20 months? I believe the average wait time for a ticker is 5 months.
Correction: the average wait time is 6 months to a year.

So, he didn't get special treatment. At least not obvious special treatment.
My thing with healthcare is simple. Well, simple-ish.
Do I think everyone should have insurance? Well, kinda yeah. Should I or anyone else be forced to buy it? No. I dunno how to insure the masses and not take out of the pocket of otherwise healthy folks.
But one thing screams to me at a very loud volume.....
I shouldn't be afraid to go to the doctor and get treatment because I can't afford it. I had a friend recently get a cyst removed and she has insurance. It is still gonna cost her over 3 thousand bucks. I know doctors are highly trained and deserve to make a decent living, but seriously?
3K may not be a lot to some, but to others it is.
That is the single biggest victory to come out of "Obamacare", that insurance companies can no longer deny someone because of pre-existing conditions.
Lets compare.
My son did something very stupid when he was 14, old enough in Texas to charged as an adult with a felony crime. I chose to retain a criminal defense lawyer. We spent about 3 hours talking to him and he emailed me updates weekly. Eventually the charges were dropped because the homeowner refused to press charges against his neighbor/buddy's kid who wasalso involved.. I dropped $3G for a few hours face time and a few emails. The lawyer did **** all. No refund. No discussion. The only good thing to come of that is if he fucks up (my son) again before he turns 18, the lawyer is still on retainer for the case should they dust off the old case.
I still don't get why we can't buy insurance over state lines.
Crickets from the liberals on this board. Shell shocked I'd guess after the solicitor general fumbled in front of the Supreme Court. I doubt the Obama Administration had much in the way of a substantial argument to begin with.
