Any of you been seeing CNN with their discussion of the heart transplant with tag lines on the screen reading "Is he too old?" "Other more deserving"?

Yeah, I've seen the headlines. I chuckle. They can ask the questions all they want, but the simple fact of the matter is that when you are former Vice President, you are afforded some opportunities that other folks just don't get. If you think he actually waited til his turn in that long list I'll never be able to convince you otherwise (not YOU specifically IHF, just the general you).

But that isn't right. The president and vice president are not royalty they are citizens just like the rest of us and therefore should not be given special circumstance.

May not be right, but it happens all the time. Wealthy/Powerful/Privileged/Well-Known...........get to go to the front of the line over common folks in just about every aspect of life.

Apparently the 5 conservative justices are asking questions that would seem to indicate they will find at least the individual mandate portion of Obamacare unconstitutional.

My thing with healthcare is simple. Well, simple-ish.

Do I think everyone should have insurance? Well, kinda yeah. Should I or anyone else be forced to buy it? No. I dunno how to insure the masses and not take out of the pocket of otherwise healthy folks.

But one thing screams to me at a very loud volume.....

I shouldn't be afraid to go to the doctor and get treatment because I can't afford it. I had a friend recently get a cyst removed and she has insurance. It is still gonna cost her over 3 thousand bucks. I know doctors are highly trained and deserve to make a decent living, but seriously?

3K may not be a lot to some, but to others it is.

Ah, sorry. I assumed it took years. I know the lists are long. Guess I shouldn't have made an ass out of me.

Lets compare.

My son did something very stupid when he was 14, old enough in Texas to charged as an adult with a felony crime. I chose to retain a criminal defense lawyer. We spent about 3 hours talking to him and he emailed me updates weekly. Eventually the charges were dropped because the homeowner refused to press charges against his neighbor/buddy's kid who wasalso involved.. I dropped $3G for a few hours face time and a few emails. The lawyer did **** all. No refund. No discussion. The only good thing to come of that is if he fucks up (my son) again before he turns 18, the lawyer is still on retainer for the case should they dust off the old case.

It may depend on the organ needed. A friend needed a kidney, and she waited at least a year n a half, if not more. Eventually she got one from her mom.

That is the single biggest victory to come out of "Obamacare", that insurance companies can no longer deny someone because of pre-existing conditions.

Pete - the insurance companies, while demonized, could not exist under the old system if they had to accept everyone regardless of pre-existing conditions. You would have people signing up for insurance when they diagnosed with cancer or other serious ailments. That is why the individual mandate is critical to Obamacare IF insurance companies are forced to accept everyone. One cannot exist without the other.

Lawyers are a different discussion. but i hear ya. I needed a lawyer many years ago and I dropped a bit over 1k. i was making maybe 8 bucks an hour and had an apartment. He did give me a deal. I saw him once before the case was heard. He walked in with like, a minute to spare, and absolutely tore the states case to shit. It was great.

I still don't get why we can't buy insurance over state lines.

Same here. No idea why this isn't pushed more.Seems like an easy fix to increase competition and lower rates.

Crickets from the liberals on this board. Shell shocked I'd guess after the solicitor general fumbled in front of the Supreme Court. I doubt the Obama Administration had much in the way of a substantial argument to begin with.

I doubt that's the case at all. It's either gonna be 5-4 to overturn the mandate or 5-4 with Kennedy (or Roberts) joining the more liberal justices 5-4 to uphold or 6-3 with both joining. I could see any of the three happening

Every report I've seen, even from liberal reporters indicates otherwise. Probably a 5-4 defeat or possibly 6-3. The mandate is toast.
