IT-Operations Team Lead..... aka Database Assassin

I wear about 10 different hats, I do some of the DBA's (Shifty's) job.... some of the Windows Sysadmin's jobs..... some of my bosses job..... some of Clone's job.... some of our BA/Client Services jobs (I get on the phone and straighten out our clients sometimes)... I do alot of stuff.

But my team's primary responsibility for our company is we receive and process healthcare data for 2 applications. We run the ETL processing, run the data through analytic engines, and then run the process that pushes results to the front end websites and debug/fix everything that goes wrong along the way.

I'm an auditor or public accountant. So when you pick up Microsoft's financial statements, it's me that independently reviews the numbers and makes sure Microsoft isn't lying to you about it's assets, liabilities, income, and expenses.

I'll give you this Remy... You just made accounting sound kinda cool.
I envy that talent to be honest. A lot of money is lost by poor accounting.

EDIT: For those curious my title is Technical Data Analyst...which pretty much tells you nothing except maybe that I work with data.

I maintain adherence to FCC guidelines on hybrid telcom systems- there is a novel full of performance benchmarks and technical parameters that I spend my life repairing, testing, setting up, documenting, rinsing, washing, and repeating on a bi-annual basis. Company parameters are much tighter, so FCC tests are never an issue.

I have spent 20 years doing this, leading to the next career- landlord. got a couple houses now and a few more bids in. once I hit my goal number of rental income per month, I retire. the goal is to do so before 45.

How is that right now? Here in West Valley Phoenix houses have been rising again for awhile now which is nice to see.

Real estate is obviously local so I'm not sure about Phoenix. In most areas of North Texas (where I am) it's ridiculously good right now. (If you're selling) As a buyer it sucks because there is little inventory and in the lower price ranges you're competing against not just regular buyers but investment companies too. The rent market is also tight.

It's a good gig. Allowed me to visit/live in over 25 countries the past 10 years. Also nothing more amusing than watching someone squirm when they realize they have been caught committing fraud or embezzling shit.

I was about 30 miles north west of Garland at the time. Looked pretty brutal on the local news but we just got a shit load of rain where I was. Nothing severe.

Firefighter for a medium town. I sit around all day and waste tax payer dollars. In the rare event of an emergency where I'm needed (or one of the other ten firefighters) and my salary becomes worthwhile, I go. But usually, my job is boring and I get treated like I'm a veteran. It's a joke but it's not my fault towns can't figure out a better way to utilize us.

Firefighters can make 6 figures? Nice! I thought you were a stockbroker or something financial.
