Keep raising ticket prices McDouche so we can bring turds like Oduya back.

Wrigley Field indoors now. One Goal! :woot:

Okay, quick lesson before you bring up ticket prices again. In the business world, there is a basic concept called "Supply and Demand". Supply is how much of something there is. Demand is how many people want whatever that something may be. The two can be placed onto a x and y axis to make a Supply and Demand Chart. A sample can be found on Wikipedia.

As you can see, the supply line and demand line intersect. Where it intersects, the equilibrium, determines how much ticket prices will cost based on how coveted it is. Therefore, as the Chicago Blackhawks Hockey Club has grown its fanbase at an outstanding rate since the Old Wirtz died and the New Wirtz assumed ownership of the franchise, ticket prices are bound to go up and the organization will profit more. However, as long as it is at equilibrium, the price is completely fair and whoever doesn't like it can opt to go to Chicago Wolves games instead.

EDIT: What TBO had to say on the matter is correct as well.

False, I have learned in my time here about more advanced stats and am better at judging a player than you are. I look at OPS and DPS now while you compare people on points alone and show no recognition of the existence of the salary cap.

Also, you are seemingly clueless about financials, and at comebacks since this is all you could come up with in response to me explaining why your ticket proce comment was out of line.

Oduya played pretty well for the Blackhawks last year. I really felt that Oduya was overrated but he fit in very well and we all saw what depth on the blue line did. Most of the D fell back into their natural roles and players like Keith had less TOI which was huge.

Should be very interesting to see what the cap hit is but this could be a solid deal for the Blackhawks and I do believe this increases the chances that Hammer is traded.

and your obviously clueless when it comes to economics and revenue

And the National Hockey League Collective Bargaining Agreement that includes a salary cap, and the sport itself. He should go back to... oh wait, isn't a sport for him to go back to that he will sound smarter in... oh well.

I'm actually a fan of this signing. We need a good puck moving D. I know Oduya isn't Soupy but he's not bad and we were really missing that this season. Now let's hope the cap hit is reasonable.

The real question is what does this move signal in the rest of the offseason?

Right now, you can lock in Keith, Seabrook, Leddy and Oduya into the defense. Those four aren't going anywhere.

Hjalmarsson could very well be trade bait now. Maybe to get a 2C? Possibly. If the Hawks are going to add a top-6 forward his salary is almost a must to be removed.

If the Hawks don't add any more defensemen, expect Olsen to be a 3rd pairing guy. But I could also see a scenario where he's back getting top line minutes in Rockford.

Another big question that hasn't been discussed much on this board is Steve Montador's health. He had an eerily Crosby-like series of head injuries last season. Missed a chunk of games with a concussion, played one game, re-injured, missed the rest of the season. He's not exactly a young guy and I'm not so sure you can count on him for the start of next season.

I think it goes like this: If Monty is healthy enough to play, Hjalmarsson is gone. If not, Hjalmarsson stays or is moved when another D-man is acquired.

Re-signing Oduya does give Bowman some options.

Not bad, where does that leave us with him and Mayers factored in then?
