Link to every rookie being told they might not start?
Helps if you keep the context of the conversation, instead of your one-two sentence hot takes.

The Detroit Lions drafted Iowa Hawkeyes linebacker Jack Campbell with the 18th overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft because they viewed him as capable of making an immediate impact in the middle of their defense.

But Lions linebacker coach Kelvin Sheppard said Monday that the team might have different plans after offseason workouts. Campbell is not guaranteed a starting spot—at least not yet.

“It’s proven here,” Sheppard told Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press. “I know it’s like the right thing to say, but it is proven. We are going to play the best players. We do not care what that looks like, and when that starts top down, it’s easy for me to walk into my linebacker room after we take a guy Pick 18, because in probably 20 other rooms, that player’s starting, and there’s nothing you can do about it as a position coach.

“Well, that’s not the case here. If Jack isn’t the top two or three, Jack will continue to go through the process of rookie development until he’s hit that mark.”

Sheppard cited Malcolm Rodriguez, last year’s sixth-round pick, earning the starting gig during training camp and preseason last year as proof the best players will play.

Whether that includes Campbell remains to be seen.

This comment is made about every rookie, regardless of draft position.

You're trying desperately to make something out of nothing.

@MikeDitkaPolishSausage

I will now practice my MikeDitkaSausagesmoker hot takes...................

WTF man, JF only had one good throw?

Or maybe you should be a little more concerned about your 10th overall draft pick?

Ouch!!

Your words were “they tell that to all rookies”. So my comment responding to yours was in context of the conversation.

I seriously feel sorry for you Rick.
I feel sorry for Bears fans. Their #10 overall pick, giving up 2 sacks to a practice squad player.

Yikes!!!!!

Could have had Carter too!!

So tell me, how does it feel to open your mouth and put BOTH feet in it?

@nc0gnet0 I’ve been reading that your boy Jack Campbell is no lock to start. So the Lions potentially drafted two first rounders that might not start. Thats laughable. Major reach for both those picks.
Especially at 2 positions that are considered much easier to fill from any round in the draft. Imagine drafting Jack Sanborn at #18

I feel sorry for an idiot discussing “sacks” against an offensive lineman when he’s not allowed to hit and the players are not in full pads.
