I responded to the Twitter post mentioning taking Will Anderson at #2 and acquiring a 2nd next year. I said that's a huge waste of having the #1 pick when we are a team of lots of needs. If we were loaded like Rams, 49ers, Tampa etc and just a premium player away from a Super Bowl year.. then maybe you get that stud if he is exactly what you need. I suggested it would be pitiful to get only 1 player (like Will) and a 2nd out of the #1 pick. To trade down twice and garner two 1sts, two 2nds, a 3rd. You replied that was not the way to go, but rather take a "premium" player. I responded with the example of Solomon Thomas- taken by the 49ers at 3rd overall. Thomas is a bust. My point is.. who is your "premium" player.. that you would risk taking over a huge draft haul? Top 5 picks are 50/50.. The odds are better IMO to take shots with 2 first rounders and second rounders. Its not like #9 pick isnt a great player prospect. We need OT, DT, WR, LB etc.. just one player like Will Anderson and a 2nd is not worth the risk for a 3-12 team. We have so many needs, hence.. I disagree with your "we should just get a "premium" player opinion.
How was my response confusing? I argued for multiple picks, you recommend taking the stud at 1 or 2.
