I feel like an extension for Johnson is going to be tough. He's not a top 5 CB, but top 5 CBs get about 20M/year. There's a few guys a notch below in the 16.5M- 18M range. The tier below that is 13-15Mil per year.
I think Johnson belongs in that 3rd tier, but the rub is that he's 2 years younger than any other CB that's on a 2nd contract. And he'll be the youngest CB in next year's FA class, other than Jeffrey Okudah, who Johnson is clearly better than at this point. He'll also be one of the top 4 CBs (only Diggs, Terrell, and maybe Sneed are better).
So, I think the Bears would have to go to that 15M AAV range in order to get Johnson to sign this offseason. And that would be paying him more on projection that actual performance so far.
