Yeah i get it but Bears fans are always talking about Fields not having shit around him but all D.Jones had was S.Barkley and a bunch of meh after him. I think he should get another year with Daboll and better weapons on the tag and then go from there.
But on Tag they won't have money to spend for better weapons.

You have two chances as a QB when getting big money
1) you're good and make your cheap receiver good
2) you're just average and sucks, because of lack of weapons due no money

Just look in Mahomes / Rodgers situation.
Or would you pay Smith big money?

The Giants being just good enough to give the franchise some hope, and Daboll winning COY in his first year, was the worst outcome for that franchise.
2018 Bears in a nutshell. Only difference is they gotta pay their QB instead of trading for Nick Foles.

It does feel like their success this past year could cost daboll his job in 2 or 3 years because it'll lead to poor decisions like extending Jones
Honestly, if I were Daboll, I'd be like, "I can do this with any QB. I developed Josh Allen. Made Mitch Trubisky look like a viable starting QB to the point the Steelers signed him to be there's. And made Jones not look like a bust". Give him any QB and he'll get production. Giants would be better off going with like a Baker Mayfield (or even Trubisky when cut) and drafting a QB mid rounds. They can always circle back and take a QB early next year, if those guys don't work out. It's much better than being locked into 30-45Mil for multiple years with a QB they barely let throw the ball more than Fields.

Absolutely. Nothing good comes from giving Jones a big contract. Mediocrity isn't stability. It limits the ability to build the roster out around him too, which is fine if the qb isn't mitch trubisky caliber. If they lose saquon to keep Jones they will regret that decision

The thing you gotta respect with daboll, is he coordinates his offense to fit the strengths of his QB. He doesn’t have a system that he forces down a QB’s throat. It’s simple, but effective. He just has to avoid letting shit go to his head and stay this way.

Yeah, I agree they are not trending up in my opinion and finishing that high with guys due $$'s and no cap space is not ideal.
Would not trade that with the Bears situation.

I wonder how he'd do with QB that can't run. I'm genuinely asking and going back to his earlier OC stops with less mobile guys isn't really fair with the teams involves. The big difference in Giants O this year, besides being run well, was keeping Ds off balance by making Jones mobile.
