Funny story. I was in the Bahamas at the Crystal Palace during the Cade McCown draft. The guy sitting at the table next to us in the crappy sports bar started chatting with a friend/client of mine sitting with me and it was one of the Gibbs brothers. His teeth were just about rotted out.

Ha, Crystal Palace. That is a blast from the past.

I think it could be done for a 2nd and a future 2nd. He has a big contract to assume as well and they can’t afford him with their cap problems.
I would do it in a heartbeat, Lions got an extra second from the TJ trade. They just cleared more cap releasing Brockers, and can create more by releasing or renegotiating Vaitia. Okwara and Harris are equally expendable. Darft DL at #6 and Bijan Robinson #18.

I think eighteenth would be more than enough, but also that the Rams might have their eyes on a quarterback this year and they'll add more players to try and pry sixth. Would you take Aaron Donald and Jalen Ramsey for sixth overall? I don't know.
nah, Love Aaron Donald but he is in no way any part of a trade scenario for Detroit.

Not giving up a 6th. Lions got two firsts for Stafford, but they were not in the year of the trade.

It was such a ducking dump. The company I worked for in college ran junket trips to the Bahamas, the other casino they worked with was the Atlantis. I never got to stay there, they always had me handle the customers that stayed at the Palace. When I left the gaming industry a few years later, my former boss got busted in Georgia running an illegal poker house. With Disco Inferno nonetheless

that plus an assumed increase of production/development from Hutch, Mcneil, Joseph, Rodriguez, Houston, Pascal, and Okudah, and a return of Tracy Walker off of IR. There is a lot of young pieces on that D, and they were making progress as the year progressed.

I am a huge fam of Robinson, but Zierlein is basically the Dan McNeil of Houston sports radio. A radio guy, but no real background in football or scouting. He Mel Kipered his way into that job.

He also has Skoronski at 6, who triggers you really badly.
Bro, Skoronski doesn’t trigger me badly based on who he is. What pissed me the **** off was the boneheaded lazy pick based on a fixed value ideology. Value is not immutable; it is relative with fluidity.

We do not need a LT. Yeah, there are some straight up meatheads clamoring to replace Braxton Jones. They are out of their fucking minds. Nah, we need a RT and a C, and, maybe, a LG. RT, despite the current vogue of sayjng it is basically LT, is different, because it needs to be a people mover. Skoronski is not that. It’s not his skill set. He will make a team happy who runs the risk of drafting him for LT.

I’m thinking of of a trade back scenario for my next mock where we trade with Carolina and then pick up an extra second from the Jets so they can move up and take Skoronski. He would make perfect sense for them, not us.

I was pissed at the sheer lazy analysis and value-based mock drafting that was akin to helmet scouting QBs.

What about swapping Cody Whitehair with Ikem Ekwonu?

In all seriousness, I’d think Taylor Moton would be the goal. He doesn’t miss games and is a steady presence. I don’t think the Panthers would give up a promising young first round rookie, and we don’t need a LT. Moton is the goal. I mocked him to us a while ago.

If Poles is set on Anderson then make a deal with Houston and be done with it. No guarantee he's there at 4 even if they get a haul from Indy.
I agree. Take the player. Of course, I’d like a haul of picks, but, if you’ve got that level of conviction on Anderson, take him.

I mean, I don’t, but I’m not Poles.

The last bits are KEY, and should be REMEMBERED going fwd:

It sounds like the Chicago Bears already have plans in motion.

Houston moving up to #1 isn’t hard to believe. They have many extra draft picks from the Deshaun Watson trade, including the 12th overall pick. The cost to jump from #2 wouldn’t be over the top, likely a couple of Day 2 picks. This would ensure they get the quarterback they want and have plenty of ammunition left over to build around him. Then Poles would be in a sweet position. He could pocket those picks and take the best player on his board or move down again and stockpile even more. Teams may wish to get in front of Indianapolis at #4 for the next quarterback in line.

If the Chicago Bears play their cards right, they could end up with several quality extra picks to work with. All that while still landing in a good spot to take a top prospect. There are few developments better than that for a rebuilding team. It is why so many felt back in January that the Bears got away with robbery when they landed the #1 pick. Now Houston must spend extra picks to get the QB they want when they could’ve had the #1 spot if they’d merely lost to the Colts—a harsh consequence of not handling the Lovie Smith situation properly.
