That's a decade old. Hand held will always lose a bit of time but it won't affect much. If you look at the 2021 draft (no combine) where a there were a bunch of multiple timings on players, both electronic and hand held, the difference seems a hair less than a 0.1 sec. and GMs are fully aware of it.
Indeed, never tried to indicate GM’s don’t know this. I guess this was just inferred for some reason.
I also hope players are drafted by more metrics than their 40 time as it should have some play but imo should not be a defining factor for many positions.
I’m not about to argue this again but hand times are not accurate, and are often off by around 0.24 seconds which is obviously a huge deal in a shorter race like a 40 yard dash.
I’d be happy if the bears drafted JSN with a trade back. Couldn’t really care less what his 40 is, his value is demonstrated on tape.
