I might be on the Bijan train now, maybe Carter will be there
Now Poles needs to find a way to get the most out of one of Claypool or Mooney in a trade because there's no way he's paying both of them their value with now having Moore at his contract avg of about $17.5 per. I'd obviously rather trade Claypool and don't want to let him walk at the end of next year after giving up the #32 pick for him but he's got to do what's best for the team with now having Moore and his contract on the books.

Ok, so a lot obviously depends on FA, but crazy idea...with picks 53, 61 and 64...do the Bears consider packaging them to move up in the high teens/low 20s? The value of those three picks is 270 points, and it might be a stretch but the Bears might find a willing partner. Imagine JSN at 9, then an OT or Edge at 19/20?

Bears have a lot of holes, but one can dream after such a doozy (and slightly boozy) Friday!

It’s really kinda shitty that the day every team is supposed to be under the cap is also the day free agency officially starts. (And two days AFTER the real negotiations begin)

You’ve got 1/4 of the league still over the cap with tons of cuts still coming. And then they immediately have to go into the free agent pool.

Deadline for teams to be under the cap should be today… then players have 48 hours over the weekend at least to get with their agents and make a plan.

jfc

you are absolutely right

Nah. Poles has said himself, more picks gives him more swings. I think he'll trade back again somewhere..

He actually has a fair point. It doesn’t make sense for them to extend both Claypool and Mooney. That’s just paying for 2 #2 WRs. Rather keep 1 of them to complement Moore, draft another WR next year.

Probably won’t happen but it would be nice to get something for 1 of them to make up at least a little for the pick spent on Claypool. But again, not likely that happens.

If we could get a good first half of the season out of Claypool then maybe we could get something from him from a WR needy team making a playoff run. We won't get our 2nd back but i'd take a 3rd for him.

Highly doubtful though. If Claypool is good enough to command a 3rd round pick, then he'll certainly get signed to a big enough deal in the offseason to earn a 3rd round comp pick. So why trade him away when at that point when he's presumably performing and we're presumably having a good season?

Having too many guys worthy of an extension is a good problem to have. I agree though. Having Moore now means one of Claypool or Mooney won't be here next season, but that's ok.

Good point but don't think we'd get a 3rd round comp pick for him leaving in free agency because we'll still be a team in rebuild mode so we'll be adding a good amount of players again next offseason i would think.

Moore gets 20m this year when Mooney and Claypool are cheap. He is 16m in 2023 and 2024. With Moore, it likely means Mooney and Claypool arent going to put up huge numbers so if the market is such that their value is 15m or so then 3 WRs at 46m is perfectly fine.

Now if we draft JSN then I can envision us moving one of Mooney or Claypool.

With 2 firsts next year I think this will be Poles last big foray into FA espeically if he address C, RT, DT and DE in FA. Beyond that he can really really on draft capital to build out the rest of the team.

I also wouldnt be shocked if he moves on from JJ if he doesnt improve his ball skills so that would be another guy leaving who could get a big contract.
