People are discounting Patrick at C. He was signed specifically to play there last year but almost never did because of several injuries (Mustipher unable to play anywhere but C).
I think the plan was always to draft a C to compete with / back up Patrick. There was absolutely no smoke about that. I do think T was a priority but they pushed that money to LB once McGlinchey went to Denver.

I get the feeling there's still a big signing looming, but it may just be a bunch of value prove it deals to fill holes going into the draft.

I’m definitely discounting him as a guaranteed starter. Bears gave him a chance to finally be the man and stay at one position but he blew it.

3 years $29 million.

I don't get it, could easily afford most of these guys, really could use a OT to close that as a dire need.
$9.7M is starter money spent on someone drafted high (22 overall in 2019) who started 9 games in 3 years . That's a desperation signing we don't need to make. I'm not even sure what Dillard's position is at this point.

While he has the size for Mike, I think Flus performs to play his big play LB at Will. Of course he can play the Urlacher role but think Edwards is more suited to that more lunch pail type role and you let Edmunds do his thing from the Will spot where he will be blocked less.

So, the Derrick Brooks role in the more traditional Tampa-2. Lovie's version with Urlacher in the middle was a little unique in that regard.

Do we think Doug Kramer or JaTyre Carter factor into next year‘s plans or are they still just late round developmental dudes?

Can the Allen kid in AZ play that position or is he just Edge?

He's 280 and wasn't the Cards some sort of weird 3-4 last year?

I'm not going to pretend to know the skills needed and if Allen has them, but I think Dre'Mont Jones from Denver was a 3-4 DE that projects to a 4-3 Tampa 2 DT - they're both 6'3" 280.

I'm guessing DL plans are kind of on hold until Jones makes a choice. Then I'd think bears will quickly turn to plan b. I'd be pretty surprised if bears don't sign 2 DL in FA
