Why do the Vikings get lucky in a bunch of close games last year and everyone says they will come back to earth while Daboll does the same thing and he’s a great coach? I’m honestly not saying this because they got rocked last night. I’ve never been sold on him.

They ran like god last year in close games. That team could have easily been 6-11. I think some of it is East Coast media bias. Specifically New York media bias. I’m not saying he is a bad coach. He may be good. I watched a ton of Giants games last year though and it seems like they won every game that was 50/50 in the fourth. They pulled a bunch of games out of their ass. That’s not sustainable.

I also know the roster sucked. So I know what he got out of it was an accomplishment. But a lot of that felt like a team running unrealistically hot in close games. Minny did the same thing and have been shit on all off season for it. Then the narrative with the Giants doing the same thing is that their coach is a genius. I’m not sure I believe it.

Did anybody catch the conversation between Greg Olsen and Burkhardt about having hope because of what Poles mentioned about the team's confidence???

if this is a team built on confidence then they dont have it. Poles shot himself in the face.

The 2nd half too was the same shit as last year. Down multiple scores and they're just not pushing the ball. They're not playing fast. They seem to acquiesce to the inevitable loss.
It was driving me fucking insane.

Not sure if you heard Olsen, but he was talking a bunch of shit about their lack of urgency.

That’s the sad part. They were in the game going into halftime and of course no adjustments were made. Let’s keep running the same run plays and screens that haven’t been working. I don’t get it. Not to mentioned they looked manageable to begin the game until Getsy decided to get cute.

And he was openly questioning their playcalling and time clock management. He basically said they made it too obvious they were going with a QB sneak on that first drive.

Heads down. Nobody talks to each other. Even if they recognize it, which some of them have to, nobody stands up and tries to lead. The coaches aren't paying enough attention to what's happening on the sideline because the pathetic effort on the field is such a spectacle that it takes up 100% of their attention.

This is so dangerously close to what the winless Browns were like.

They tipped their hand and then ran into the strength of the defense with a weak Center and a semi-injured LG and very rusty RG. Brilliant idea
It's easy to criticize as a fan, but for fucks sake. I'm pretty convinced there are a number of posters here that could call a better game.

There's an obvious disconnect between what they want their strategy to be and what the actual talent on the field is capable of doing. They clearly want to play ball control, possession based football like they're back in the early 2000s. Short passes in the flat and behind the line of scrimmage to keep the clock running. Run the ball regardless of how it's going. Then punt and hope your defense can create a short field for field goals. Meanwhile the highly touted QB prospect known for having a great deep ball accuracy is instead stuck throwing 14 passes behind the line of scrimmage and only throwing the ball 5 times past 10 yards the entire game. They call plays scared.

The reality is they don't have a defense capable of getting takeaways and consistent stops. 3rd and 7+ was basically 3rd and inches yesterday. If the line to gain was 7, they'd have their corners playing 10 yards off the line and giving a free release. Unsurprisingly, the wide receiver would know exactly where they were going, the defender would be too far out of position to quickly react and next thing you know they're catching the ball in wide open space and YAC-ing their asses off.

If the Bears had lost by the same amount yesterday while being aggressive the entire time, ok, it sucked but at least you went down swinging. They don't even do that. Getsy had his gameplan and regardless of what was actually happening 'in-game', he stuck to it to the very end. The exact same can be said about the defensive gameplan too. They aren't selectively aggressive on either side of the ball because they're worried they might get beat on a play. Whether you lose by 1 or 100, you still lost so try something different.

We all knew it was over on the first series.

The sad thing is that if this team ends up being as bad as they look on the field and on paper, the same guy who put this together for two offseasons is going to get his chance to use two first round draft picks.

If by chance the guys above Poles have the balls or brains to replace him, they'll be doing their homework way too late. The evaluation should be constant and it should have started the second the first decision was made. I wish i had faith in someone at the top who could look at the team and say "where did we start. What do we have? Where does it look like we're going? and does any of that give me enough faith to give these people the keys to what looks like two high first round picks?"

The pattern of incompetence will continue.

They are eleven losses from typing the record for most consecutive defeats post-merger. I cannot imagine that even the Bears ownership, bad as they are, will tolerate that.

The good news is that as dumb as they are, they are meatheaded enough to put more value into losing badly to the Packers. Yesterday was a great start at getting them to actually pay attention.

100%. A decent drive was killed by the horrible playcallng from the OC. Two attempts to gain 1 yard and Getsy does back to back QB sneaks with Kmet? and Fields. Why? I also loved how the announcers pointed out where Herbert was lined up on the second QB sneak. A peewee football coach could figure out that was going to be a sneak.

The tonal shift is dramatic. Ryan Poles might not know it but I bet you Matt Eberflus does, both their jobs are officially in some amount of jeopardy. And while I'm with you that its encouraging I shudder to think of what Poles will do if he finds his back to the wall. Last year's deadline was an unmitigated disaster, imagine what he'll do if he's desperate.

Count me as one of the few who came out optimistic with this embarrassing loss. The Bears are on the right track. Trust the process
I'm usually an optimist, but I'm not seeing the silver lining here. Both lines are bad, and coaching on both sides of the ball did ZERO to help cover up the deficiencies, or make any adjustments. I have zero faith right now in leadership. Maybe this was a wake up call and they turn it around, it was only one game. But I doubt it at this point.
