Does this mean bigger change afoot with ownership moving forward, or is it just a reshuffle and maybe a change at the top given the mention of Virginia McCaskey's recently reported health issues?
And yet so many including media ran with it as if the Bears were the ones shopping him. I tried to do my part in explaining that taking calls is not the same as making them and that media stirs shit up just for clicks but that fell on deaf ears.
This is assuming that Poles is not lying of course. But I'm not going to make that jump unless I have at least some kind of signal.
My biggest concern with the Bears in the offseason was OL, and I'm starting to feel confident with the starters and even the depth behind them. Obviously because of Patrick's injury they still have work to do as a unit, but it's obvious the talent is there and the line is improving with reps.
Relative Athletic Scores (RAS):
STARTERS
Braxton Jones - 8.44
Cody Whitehair - 7.99
Lucas Patrick - 9.30
Teven Jenkins - 9.74
Larry Borom - 8.65
BACKUPS
Riley Reiff - 5.91
J'Atyre Carter - 6.31
Sam Mustipher - 0.85
Alex Leatherwood - 9.69
PRACTICE SQUAD
Kellen Diesch - 9.75
Lachavious Simmons - n/a
Dieter Eiselen - n/a
INJURED RESERVE
Doug Kramer - 8.47
Projecting out a year, we may see Doug Kramer replace Mustipher as backup at C. Carter, Diesch and Leatherwood can challenge at G and T.
Poles had one established starter in Whitehair when he took over. That's a crazy overhaul in one offseason, not just plugging in starters but establishing a cycle of development into the future.
I'm excited to see how they perform against SF in week one. Crazy test to start the year, but it could be a huge confidence builder for the whole offense.
Yeah after watching this, I'm convinced more than ever that there's more to this story.
But Peggy what's her name and that other guy HAD SOURCES!!!Poles was on the Hoge and Jahns podcast. Said they never offered Jenkins to anyone and that some teams called to check his status since he wasn't practicing. No talks ensued. Said he was surprised by Jenkins comments about not knowing his status and had a talk with him about it to set things straight. Said he likes how Jenkins is playing etc. Took some responsibility for that but he was doing the never sleeps thing at the time watching film on waiver players etc.
It actually makes sense since at this time of the year, he likely has less direct contact with players and is doing a lot of that scout type work. I can understand why a GM wouldn't want to address false rumors to the media but he shouldn't keep his player hanging. Growing pains but he went directly to player to fix it.
I really don't see Kmet making much of a difference in this game. He'll be blocking to help the OT's and if he does run a route, he's matched up with a damn good cover LB'er in Fred Warner.
Offense won't have an easy time moving the ball in week 1.
Lets not forget that we finally have a FB to help with the run blocking.I suspect he lines up on the right and helps the run game a lot. Bosa has freedom to rush from where Kmet aint so should be a big test for Jones.
