I know Lions have been dealing with the Vikes lately but trading 3 firsts in your division? Would be cool but idk. Also wondering if Poles would take best value with Lions over possibly lesser with a team you wont face twice a season. Man, imagine Bears getting 3 1sts and the Lions pick ends up being a bust. I know a certain someone who would never return to CCS.

Hope no one overreacts to Love throwing a pass 6 yards that ends up getting housed for 63. My guy Christian Watson not looking like a bust after all. I wont @ you know who you are.

Put me in that. Was not a Watson fan going into the draft. Wanted Alec Pierce

How in the world did PHI win? Hurts 28 attempts but only threw for 153 yards. Ran for more with 157. Hurts only scoring 2 TDs. I was told you cant win games in the NFL without being primarily a pocket passer.
The narrative is you can’t go deep in the playoffs and win a SB. So far, that narrative is factual. That doesn’t mean it will remain so

The narrative has been that Justin Fields is losing games because he's not throwing for 250 yards. I dont even know why anyone would even talk about doing it in the Super Bowl. We can discuss that when the Bears stop fielding a practice squad team.

That narrative will be a thing of the past. How many pocket passers you see winning multiple super bowl's in the future? Brady? Rodgers? Cousins? Jones? Goff? Semens?

You brought up the narrative that you can’t win games without being primarily a pocket passer. I know you never subscribed to that, but it’s a false narrative. The more common and pretty accurate criticism towards non primary pocket passers is they have never won a SB and flame out in the playoffs. Like I said, that doesn’t mean that will always be the case. It could very well change. But up to this point in time, it’s true. SB winning QBs do majority of their damage from the pocket.

I don’t disagree. As I said, that could very well change but up until now, it’s a factual narrative

Ok thats fair but again, i'm not talking about Super Bowls. I commented after a SNF game, mocking people who keep bitching about 200 yards passing in regular season games in oct and nov.

Not sure if you caught the stat during the GB game, but Rodgers didn’t throw for 300 yards for like his first 18 games (forget exactly). Obviously, he didn’t have the scrambling ability as Fields either. I think the game is changing. I’d like to see Fields run a tad less and win from the pocket more…but I think that progression is coming next year. Not really worried about it

Rodgers was also criticized for getting the football out quick enough.

I think most people realize that the Bears arent losing these games because there isn't a passing yardage threshold being met and that its the defense giving up 35 ppg. As long as Fields keeps the chains moving and helps execute an offense thats scoring points, i dont care where the yards come from. I think we all prefer he not run as much as we saw in ATL but something a little more balanced in prior games.

I don't really have a huge worry about Fields as a passer. Considering his circumstances, im surprised his numbers are as good as they are and im not even worried about volume. I've always been more worried about what they put around him. Make it to where he doesnt need to constantly feel like he needs to be a hero.

Russell Wilson won a Super Bowl and he is hardly a pocket passer. If you want to argue he won because of defense then I would say CK lost because his D gave up 34 not because he could not lead his team deep in the playoffs.

Also not sure I would call Mahomes a primarily pocket passer as much of his big plays happen when he is on the move. Cam also had a deep SB run as did Steve McNair who came a yard short against the greatest show on turf.

Outside of those guys above you have guys like Elway, Young and even Montanna whose success was in large part due to their ability to throw outside of the pocket and their mobility albeit they also succeeded within the pocket.
