@remydat when you are done embarrassing dbldown, please chime in here. You are the official CCS cap strategist

It is an extension so only the SB hits this year. 24m SB / 5 years is 4.8m and they have 7m in cap space left this year. First year of new deal is probably going to have a low base salary so probaly will count like 7m against cap. They also have a few aging vets they likely move on from so this is doable.

If they value him they can sign him. There’s always a way.
Difference is Snyder is being forced to sell the team. Snyder doesn’t give a **** about winning next year if he is not the owner. It all depends on when that team is sold.

Wonder if Conklin deal means Bengals mpre likely to move on from Higgins eventually. Will likely need to give Burrow a huge extension this offseason and Burrow still eats a lot of sacks.

Is the salary cap a figment of my imagination? Green Bay has very little cap space and very few players that they can be further restructured to create more space. With $7M moving forward from this season they would have $10M in cap space not including E Jenkins contract. Unless they plan to be complete non-players in FA with a below .500 roster they are donezo.

They have $40M+ of base salary that can be restructured to create cap im '23 (of course at the cost of adding dead money down the line). But I think you are right in identifying that they have almost no cap flexibility to add quality players at this point and are effectively choosing the salary cap version of slowly bleeding to death. It looks like their FO is just trying to kick the can down the road until Rodgers retires then probably do a reset year like the Bears did this year.

Claypool extension incoming!

@BEARZOMBIE
I could easily see the Lions cutting Halapoulivaati Vaiti, and saving 10 mil in cap. Coming off an injury, likely to sign a one year "prove it" deal. Never panned out as a Tackle, but is a very good guard when healthy, at least better than anything the Bears have.

Evan Engram has looked amazing as of late. He was fucking awful earlier in the year but he’s on a Kelce-like level right now.

@BaBaBlacksheep I guess $5 to $6 million is a fair number? I really haven’t thought about it other than not doling out what Cleveland & Buffalo did for their TE’s
I've been looking at him for a while. He might be the best bet for a pass catcher in FA this year, although his price is going to balloon. Really good after the catch, lots of burst.

Seems inconsistent. Talent is there. Worry about him after getting a big deal though.

Agree, very few TEs are consistent though. He's been pretty reliable over his career, 577 yards or more in 4 of 6 seasons.

Kmet should be re-signed. The Bears have too many holes to fill as it is.

Everyone needs to prepare for Payne getting re-signed too. If Packers can pull this off then Commanders can definitely take care of him.
Yeah they're not just going to fold. Poles will have to be all in.
